Good news and bad news…

The good news:  a trial date has finally been set for Oblate molester and former fugitive Father Eric Dejaeger

The bad news:  the trial is scheduled to start 28 October 2012 – over a year away.

That’s another year for the 41 Nunavut complainants who have already waited so terribly long to see justice done.

Here are the articles posted online to date:

01 October 2012: “Former Nunavut priest pleads not guilty to 76 sex charges” & related articles

Remember that Father Dejaeger is scheduled to be in Edmonton Alberta 21 December of this year for a two-day preliminary hearing on his Edmonton charges.

I wonder if the plan/hope is to get those charges through the courts before the Nunavut trial?  or,  would he prefer to keep those on hold until after ?

Those who know me will know that my concern re the Nunavut charges is that Dejaeger will walk on a technicality, either claiming his Charter right to speedy trial has been violated, or that the whole world conspired against him.

Perhaps he waived his Charter right to a speedy trial?   I surely hope and pray that he did.

I wonder if perhaps he’s waiting to see what happens in Edmonton at his preliminary hearing?  If he’s ordered to stand trial there perhaps he will re-assess his not guilty on all 76 charges?

We shall see.

Keep all the complainants in your prayers, those in Nunavut and those in Edmonton.  This has to be terribly confusing and difficult for all of them

I can’t find a thing online about Father George Smith   Did his court date proceed as planned in Corner Brook today?  Perhaps there will be news tomorrow.

Kitchen still a mess, but painting is done 🙂  Tomorrow should see the bulk of the mess sorted out and then I’ll feel really good about it all.

I have a lot of emails waiting to be answered.  I will make getting emails answered within the next two days a priority.

Enough for now,

Sylvia
