He’s still in Iqaluit

Okay, a few bits and pieces of information regarding Eric Dejaeger, specifically where he is now, and where he is going.

For a variety of reasons I was confused about what was going on.  I got on the phone, first to confirm the Edmonton courtdate this coming Friday (06 February 2015), then  to Mr. Deroy,  media relations for the Baffin Correctional Centre (BCC) where Dejeager has been held in custody since his arrival in Canada four years ago, and finally to verify that the 03 March 2015 courtdate in Iqaluit still stands.

Here’s what I learned:

1.  Eric Dejager has a courtdate this coming Friday at the Edmonton courthouse;

06 February 2015: 09:30 am, in arraignment court, Edmonton Court of Queen’s Bench ( 1A Sir Winston Churchill Square , Edmonton, AB);

2.  Eric Dejaeger has a courtdate next month in Iqaluit;

03 March 2015: 09:30 am, “to speak to,”  Iqaluit courthouse, Iqaluit, Nunavut

3.  Eric Dejaeger is right now resident at the BCC;  he has not left.  He is not in Edmonton.  (There is a period of 15 days post sentencing during which Dejager will remain at the BCC.  This is somehow  tied into waivers and possible appeals)

4.  It is unknown which federal prison Dejaeger will be sent to serve the 11 years (19-8),  However Dejeager will initially be sent- in the company of RCMP –  to the Ottawa Carleton Correctional Centre in Ottawa, Ontario.  While at the OCDC he will undergo tests  and assesments after which a decision will made as to where he should be incarcerated;

So, Dejaeger is still in Iqaluit.   My understanding is that he is not going anywhere and therefore he will  not be in Edmonton, Alberta for tomorrow’s courtdate.

The Iqaluit courtdate of 03 March 2015 still stands.

At some point in the not too distant future, but probably not until post 03 March 2015,  Dejaeger will be landing in Ottawa and will spend time at the Ottawa Carleton Detention Centre (Yes, that’s where Perry Dunlop spent  several months of his life.  In due course I will get that important information back up on the Inquiry website.)  For what it’s worth, that’s almost in my back yard 🙂  – or 🙁 ?

If there is anyone in Edmonton who is free to pop into court tomorrow morning to catch what’s going on with these charges please do.

Keep the Edmonton complainants in your prayers.  Their charges have had to take a back seat while the Nunavut charges were dragging through the courts.  Not easy.  Not easy at all.

None of this has been easy on any of the Dejaeger victims.  Keep them all in your prayers.

 Father Albert Laisnez (Archdiocese of Edmonton, Alberta), has a courtdate tomorrow:

06 February 2015:  09:30 am, in arraignment court, Edmonton Court of Queen’s Bench ( 1A Sir Winston Churchill Square , Edmonton, AB)

That’s the same courtroom booked for Dejeager.  In truth they are two of many who have courtdates in that courtroom tomorrow morning.

But, the point is, if anyone does manage to get there, – a chance to hear what’s happening with both cases.

Please keep the complainant in your prayers.

Father Jacques Faucher (Archdiocese of Ottawa) has a court date tomorrow:

06 February 2015: assignment court (Superior Court of Justice), Ottawa Ontario courthouse (161 Elgin St.)

I think there may be movement on this one tomorrow.  I have heard bits and pieces through the grapevine .  The proceedings will be conducted in French.  If there is anyone who is bilingual who is able to attend to keep us abreast of what is happening please do.

Please keep the complainants in your prayers.

Enough for now,

Sylvia
