Goodbyes

Perry has now spent 124 days in jail – for stepping up to the plate to protect children, and then daring to say he has lost faith in the justice system. This is the institutional response to allegations of childhood sexual abuse.

I gather CPS officer Lefebvre doesn’t want to testify?   And CPS is going to bat for him?
Should be very interesting.  I will wait to hear what this is all about…

And, looks like Justice Colin McKinnon is off the hook.  No sign of him.  I suppose he could be called at any time, but he really should be testifying with the CPS witnesses and, by the look of it, the inquiry is finishing with CPS moving right along to witnesses for the Diocese of Alexandria-Cornwall . Father Denis Vaillancourt is first on the stand.

Vaillancourt, a canon lawyer, is chancellor of the diocese.  As chancellor he is responsible for the archives of the diocese.

I saw Helen and Heather yesterday (Friday 20 June 2008) – a quick meet and coffee before their return home to B.C. today.  We met up at the Ottawa Carleton Detention Centre.  It was time for goodbyes.

A few tears.

Heather didn’t want to leave.  Given her druthers she would love to stay in the area to be close to her Dad for the summer.  But, …provincial exams next week.  She has to go home.

Like Monica, a lovely girl. Beautiful. Perry and Helen can be proud.

Heather is off to university in the Fall – toying with the idea of being a lawyer.  There are those who discourage, and those who encourage.  I encourage.  “Damn good” lawyers are hard to come by.  We need a few more.   Heather I do believe has the right stuff to be a “damn good” lawyer.

Heather and Helen are exhausted.  The week has been an emotional roller coaster.  They came to be with Perry in court.  No court.  No explanations.  A hard week.

So exhausted were the pair of them that they arrived early at the OCDC – parked the car and promptly fell asleep!   I pulled in beside their car.  Didn’t know the car.  I had time to kill so read the paper for a while, then headed in a little early to get checked through for a visit.  Shortly afterwards in came Helen and Heather.  They said they arrived early and both stretched out for a rest and promptly fell asleep.

When we later headed for our cars I saw I had been parked right beside them in the parking lot – and while I read the paper to bide my time the two poor souls were in that car dead to the world!

I popped in to say a quick Hello to Perry.  He’s holding his own.

The baby birds by the way are still in the nest 🙂  With all the rain mom and dad arriving at the nest with lots of long fat worms!

Helen and Heather are now in the air and on their way home.

Marlee should be due for the next trip.  Pleae please get those Air Miles to Helen!  They are desparately needed.

I have to head out today for some shopping.  Just noticed that Claude McIntosh has an article in the Freeholder.  I don’t have time to post it right now but here’s an external link.  Will post later.
