Grandmother offers to serve sentence

I don’t know what’s happening but it’s amazing and gives me goose bumps. Emails have started arriving expressing support for Perry Dunlop and offering to serve any sentence imposed upon Perry.

Perry and Helen, people are with you in thought, prayer and spirit. Perry, there are those who are now offering to serve whatever sentence is imposed on you tomorrow at Toronto Divisional Court.

I just received word from Kay Goodnow, a 71-year-old grandmother who sent the email below offering to serve Perry’s sentence.  I was unsure if I could publish her name – she replied “ABSOLUTELY, AND USE MY FULL NAME AND ADDRESS, TELEPHONE NUMBER, ETC. I WOULD COME TO TORONTO TOMORROW IF I COULD. I AM DEAD SERIOUS ABOUT THIS…KLG”

So, on that note, here are the heart-felt sentiments of an American grandmother:

I am an American who had the pleasure of meeting Perry Dunlop at a Linkup Conference in Toronto several years ago. I heard him speak, and I met his wife Helen, and I knew that Perry was a man who truly believed in truth and justice. His accomplishments speak for themselves. This inquiry itself is a travesty, since it will serve no purpose other than to make honest people into dishonest ones through fear and intimidation.

Years later, I am further convinced that Perry did all that he could do to stop the corruption in the Cornwall area and the abuse of orphans in an establishment purportedly run by ‘christians’ and the ‘church.’ It appears that the words ‘christian’s and ‘church’ do not represent the message brought by Jesus.

It would be a real pleasure for me, as a 71 year old mother and grandmother, to come to Cornwall and serve any sentence imposed on Perry on his behalf. He has been prosecuted enough! He deserves far better than what the Cornwall Inquiry/Inquisition has dealt him, but that’s because they cannot ‘afford’ to admit past mistakes, just as the ‘church’ itself cannot ‘afford’ to admit the truth.

This isn’t the first time that a person who told the truth was punished for doing so. Remember a person whose name is Jesus?

Let me take his place. He has young children who are terrified by what their lives have become as the result of Perry telling the truth. My children and grandchildren would support me for serving his sentence. He should instead be receiving acclaim for accomplishing what he done.

How do the people who are running this Inquiry-Inquisition sleep nights? Canada is a great country, and it deserves better.

Let he/she who is without sin cast the first stone.

And then from Robert Berube in London, Ontario

Bonjour,

Hello,
As a survivor of clergy abuse, I support Perry Dunlop and his family. I would gladly take his place and I would certainly accompany KG in doing so.

Why punish a man who tried to do right? Kay Goodnow has advanced good arguments and, as a survivor and a Franco-Ontarian who is advocating for change regarding abuse of males and also females (children and adults) whose children are adults, I would gladly do the time for someone who tried to help my fellow brothers in pain. I wish I had had a Perry Dunlop in my life!

Those who wish to offer words of support for Perry can email me. I will gladly post all your words of encouragement so Perry and Helen can draw some solace in the knowledge there are people out there who care. Unless you stipulate otherwise I will post with your name and contact info.

I am getting Perry’s “story” ready (his Will State). I just had to break to get these up.

Enough for now,

Sylvia
