The papal conclave will begin on Tuesday in the Sistine Chapel, when the 115 cardinals will start voting for the new pope.

Narrowing down the cardinals of the papal conclave to a shortlist of candidates is a treacherous task.

But there are 10 names that have been circulating as the ones to watch in the election.

They include Cardinals Tagle, Ouellet, Scola, Schoenborn, Bergoglio, Sandri, Maradiaga, Scherer, Turkson and Dolan.

So, Tuesday 12 March it is.

I linked to this video which gives an ever so brief look at those cardinals who are said by some to be ‘candidates’ for the papacy. I have actually refrained from posting most of the coverage – spin, politics and agendas seem to be running rampant everywhere.

Will now wait for the white smoke sometime after Tuesday.

It will be awe inspiring and scary: a large black cloud over an artificial plume of white smoke…
