There is nothing official yet from the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of St. John’s, to the latest allegations to hit the courts. A lawsuit has been filed by a former Mount Cashel resident, alleging he was sexually abused by Bishop Raymond Lahey. The case involves something alleged to have happened in the 1980’s but lawyer Greg Stack says the recent pornography case prompted his client to come forward.

The statement of claim accuses Lahey of simulated sex acts, with clothing on. None of the allegations have been proven, and a lawyer representing Lahey on child pornography charges declined comment. Stack isn’t sure if his client has reported the matter to police.

Stack is frustrated by the Roman Catholic Archdiocese response to similar cases. He says they are making no efforts to settle them, and throwing everything legally they can in the way.
