In a story Oct. 1 about a bail hearing for a former children’s show host accused of child abuse, The Associated Press reported erroneously that the former host’s attorney was jailed. The former host, Frank Selas, has been jailed; his attorney, Mike Small, has not been jailed and has not been charged with a crime.

A corrected version of the story is below:

Bail hearing scheduled for Frank Selas

A bail hearing has been set for a former children’s show host accused of sexually abusing a child during a 1979 camping trip in central Louisiana

ALEXANDRIA, La. (AP) — A bail hearing has been set for a former children’s show host accused of sexually abusing a child during a 1979 camping trip in central Louisiana.

State District Judge Mary Doggett will consider Nov. 3 the motion for bail that attorney Mike Small made on behalf of Frank Selas several weeks ago.

KNOE-TV (http://bit.ly/2dFO9ne ) reports Selas is currently being held in the Rapides Parish jail.

Selas is the former host of the Mr. Wonder TV show that aired in Monroe in the 1970s.

Small says Selas is innocent.

Selas was arrested in San Diego in January and indicted in February on two counts of aggravated rape and other charges relating to one victim.

  1. Sylvia says:

    Uh. Ohhh!

Some typos have more serious ramifications than others

Here’s the sentence in initial 01 Ocgtober report:

KNOE-TV reports Small is currently being held in the Rapides Parish jail.

Small is Mike Small, ……Selas’ lawyer!

    So, here’s the corrected version:

KNOE-TV (http://bit.ly/2dFO9ne ) reports Selas is currently being held in the Rapides Parish jail.

Good for a wee bit of a chuckle 🙂

Embarrassing typos aside, the news is that there will be a bail hearing for Frank Selas 03 November 2016.
