Canadian-born Religious Brother with the Brothers of Christian Instruction, a religious order of Brothers founded by Jean-Marie de la Mennais and Gabriel Deshayes. The brothers are also known as La Mennais Brothers, Mennasians or Mennaisians. (They are, specifically, the Brothers of Christian Instruction of Ploërmel, not to be confused then with the Brothers of Christian Instruction of St. Gabriel)
Brother Paradis currently resides in Quebec, Canada
I have been told that Brother Paradis taught at St. Mary’s International School back in the 1960s and perhaps into the 70s. At some time he disappeared – he was back at SMIS teaching French and Religion in the mid 80s. Brother Paradis now lives in LaPrairie, Quebec in a Brothers of Christian Instruction facility (I believe it is the mother-house?). LaPrairie is a suburb of Montreal, Quebec and also home to College Jean de la Mennais, a private school once operated by the Brothers. There is a graveyard on school property where Brothers connected to the school are buried.
There are now allegations that five Mennasian Brothers sexually abused boys at SMIS: (i) Brother Lawrence Lambert fic (Guy Lambert); (ii) Brother John Paradis fic (Brother Paul-Emile Paradis or Brother Paul Paradis); (iii) Brother Benoit Lessard fic (Brother Daniel Lessard). Brother Lessard died in 1980; (iv) Brother Marcel Villemure fic (Brother Claude Villemure) and (v) Brother Alban Cyr fic
It has also been learned that Frank Selas, a layman who taught at SMIS, is a child molester. Ditto Donald Andrews.
Brother Lessard died in 1980. The other three Brothers are still alive. As far as I can tell the first four Brothers were at SMIS at the same time in the 60s – they were definitively all in Japan, and definitely all at the school on retreat December 1963. Brother Cyr was there in the late 60s to early 70s – I am quite certain that he too is still alive.
Frank Selas is believed to be hiding out in South America since a warrant for his arrest was issued in Louisiana. Don Andrews is a dean of some sort at DeVry U.

Brother Paradis knew that Brother Lawrence Lambert was a molester, despite this he allowed Lambert to return to Japan, freely interact with young boys, and return to teaching at SMIS

“I have asked the superior of br. John Paradis in Canada to get in touch with br. John, and see what could be done for the apology. By the way, actually his name is Paul-Émile but “John”, I think, was his religious name, which was taken when a brother made his profession as brother: that was the way of doing things in the past). I am still waiting for his final answer, I believe that, anyway, br. Paradis is very sad about what happened to you and regret the whole thing. Since he is now a 87-year-old man, I wonder if it will be possible but I hope that he might do something.”

Penn state revisited. I attended St Mary’s way back in the late 60′s. I remember Brother John a French Canadian (1 do not know his last name, but I think he was on the top shelf of the bros, one of a few with his own office) I walked in on him having or actually giving oral sex to a senior. The senior was from India I recall or somewhere similar, and Bro John was on his knees in front of the senior wearign his black cassock and rosary beads.. . At the time I thought he was pissing in Bro John’s mouth, years ;later I found out what he was actually doing.
At least the senior was taking the top position, but still quite mentally think it is sick sick for Bro John. There was a female teacher, think her name was Miss Pedro who saw it too as we were together.
They trained them French Canadians well in ‘novice training’ school back in Canada, hate to imagine how the novices must have had to ‘accommodate’ the bros there? Maybe that is where Bro Lawrence learnt to do what he did?..

Time for a fully funded public inquiry into SMIS and the sexual activities of the brothers.
This will need to be chaired by someone who not from or associated with SMIS or the Brothers of Christian Instruction, someone who is given unfettered access to records and staff.
How many more will be plucked out and put into the headlines?
I remember Br. Paul. I never had him for class. I remember him as a nice man. He did not strike me as being the type who would do anything like what alleged. However, I have to be fair. If there are anyone who can support this allegation, it needs to be reported. If Br. Paul is innocent, this needs to be proven.
