An investigation into alleged sexual assaults in the 1970s has resulted in the arrest of a Pembroke Priest. 67-year-old Daniel Miller stands accused of sexually assaulting an adult man and two pre-teen boys between 1970 and 1980. This brings to three, the number of Pembroke Diocese priests to be charged with criminal sexual misconduct during that same period. Miller was arrested yesterday (Feb 29) on three counts of gross indecency and three charges of Indecent assault on a male. The investigation is still ongoing by the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch and anyone with information about these particular cases or those with any other information involving Miller are asked to contact the Renfrew County Crime Unit. Miller has been released on a promise to appear in Renfrew Court on March 28th.

Meantime, the bishop of Pembroke, Most Reverand Michael Mulhall says the diocese of Pembroke is praying that the truth concerning the matter is brought to light and is extending support to the parties concerned in the case. A media release from the Diocese issued late yesterday says that Miller has not been participating in public ministry for over a decade. Miller still lives in Pembroke. He was ordained in Renfrew in 1969, and over the years, has served in Eganville, Arnprior, Deep River and Petawawa.
