The case of a priest from the Diocese of Pembroke will next appear in court Aug. 17.

Father Daniel Miller, 68, of Pembroke is facing 12 sex-related charges for incidents alleged to have occurred between 1969 and 1980 against six different victims. The charges include six each for gross indecency and indecent assault against a male.

Rev. Miller was arrested Feb. 29, 2012 and charged with three counts of each charge and on April 20 the Ontario Provincial Police laid six additional charges against the priest. According to the OPP, the second set of charges is in relation to victims from Arnprior, Deep River and Eganville.

The purpose of the Aug. 17 date is too allow the Crown and defence counsel Robert Carew to come to an agreement on an estimated four days needed for examination for discovery, part of the pre-trial process to look at possible evidence for both sides.

Rev. Miller was ordained in Renfrew on May 10, 1969. The earliest charge stems from an incident alleged to have occurred five days after his ordination. He served briefly in Eganville, with other positions in Arnprior, Deep River and Petawawa prior to 1999.
