The ex-priest Ottawa Jacques Faucher was released on bail Thursday morning.

Le religieux de 76 ans, accusé de grossière indécence et d’attentat à la pudeur d’un garçon de 7 ans dans les années 70, s’est engagé à hauteur de 3 000$ afin de recouvrer sa liberté provisoire. Un membre de sa famille s’est porté garant de son engagement.

Une ordonnance de non-publication empêche les médias de révéler ce qui a été dit dans la salle de cour, jeudi matin.

Toutefois, l’engagement interdit à M. Faucher de se trouver dans des bibliothèques publiques, sur des terrains d’école, des parcs où des enfants peuvent se trouver et des piscines publiques. Il ne pourra posséder ni se servir d’équipement électronique comme des ordinateurs ou des appareils photos.

Selon la police d’Ottawa, l’homme aurait eu entre 1971 et 1973 une série de contacts inappropriés avec l’enfant, ce qui a mené au déclenchement d’une enquête, en novembre dernier, moment où la plainte a été déposée. La victime serait aujourd’hui âgée dans la fin quarantaine.
