Plourde announces diocesan changes

Father Patrick Powers, executive secretary to Archbishop Joseph-Aurele Plourde of Ottawa and director of the communications office, will leave his post in August to study canon law in Rome.

He’ll be replaced by Rev. Gilles Lavergne.

This is one of a series of changes in the Roman Catholic archdiocese of Ottawa, announced recently by Plourde. Most of the changes take place Aug. 20 and include:

Rev. Jean Moncion has been appointed judicial vicar for the Ottawa Ecclesiastical Tribunal, and Rev. Jean Trudeau will be judge.

Rev. Jean-Claude Proulx will become moral counsellor to the Catholic sector of the French-Language School Board, as well as pastor for St-Charles parish.

The new diocesan director of the youth office, as well as a member of the evangelization committee, is Rev. Roger Vandenakker. He will also become assistant at St. Mary’s Parish in Ottawa.

New pastors appointed in the diocese include Rev. Edward Lunney at Resurrection of Our Lord, Ottawa; Rev. Msgr. Colin Campbell at St. Martin de Porres, Nepean; Rev. Harold McNeil at St. Brigid’s, Ottawa; Rev. Thomas Bluger at Good Shepherd in Gloucester; and Rev. Gerald Morris at St. Joseph’s, Ottawa (effective June 4).

In the French sector, new pastors will include Rev. Lucien Charbonneau at St-Victor, Alfred; Rev. Clement Filion at Marie-Mediatrice, Vanier; Rev.Jacques Faucher, Christ-Roi, Ottawa; Rev.Jean-Pierre Fredette, St-Jacques, Embrun; Rev. Michel Pommainville, St-Albert and Marionville; Rev. Serge Faucher, St-Bernard, Fournier; Rev. Pierre Allard at St-Sebastien, Ottawa; Rev. Henri de Longchamps, St-Jean-Baptiste, Ottawa.

New assistant pastors to take up positions in August are Rev. Donald A. Tuori at St. Augustine’s, Ottawa; Rev. Dennis Hayes, St. John the Apostle, Nepean; Rev. Francis Frankovich, St. Maurice, Nepean; Rev. Paul Shepherd, Holy Redeemer, Kanata; Rev. John Hunt, St. Joseph’s, Ottawa; Rev. Gilles Marcil, St-Joseph, Orleans; Rev.Jean-Fran@ois Morin, Ste-Genevieve (after his ordination).

Rev. Terence Siroski was appointed administrator for both St. John Parish in Osgoode and St. Bridget in Manotick, while Rev. Vincent Pereira will be administrator at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish in Ottawa.

Rev. Daniel Lavoie will become chaplain at the Monastere du Precieux Sang as well as assistant chaplain at the Elisabeth Bruyere Health Centre in Ottawa.

Rev. Real Dumas is to become diocesan chaplain for the Boy Scouts of Canada.

Deacon Gerard Lafreniee will minister at St-Joseph in Orleans.

Three seminarians were named to parishes for their pastoral year: Mark Slatter at St. Patrick’s in Fallowfield; Rick Jaworski at Our Lady of Fatima in Ottawa, and Francois Matte at St-Joseph in Orleans.
