HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – A jury trial is underway for a visiting priest accused of holding a woman against her will and fondling her at an East Oahu church earlier this year.

Bothdan Borowic, 56, is charged with kidnapping and two counts of third-degree sexual assault. He’s accused of groping a 55-year-old woman on the grounds of Holy Trinity Church in February.

The defendant is a Ukrainian Catholic priest who was on vacation from Winnipeg, Canada at the time of the alleged incident.

A Circuit Court jury heard opening statements Tuesday morning.

When is your website going to be updated on this matter?

Irene: It sounds as if you would like this information as soon as possible. A good way of doing that is putting his name on your google alert. Be sure to ask to have everything included (not just best of). If you have not done this before, ask someone computer savvy to give you a hand. Anything published on this case will then reach you.

Sorry Irene, I was on holiday so am behind on what has been happening. I checked and found that yesterday Father Borowec was acquitted of all charges against him. The article is now posted:

09 August 2011: Winnipeg: Priest Bohdan Borowec was found not guilty of kidnapping and sexual assault of woman in Hawaii

I trust that the woman who apparently lied to the court will be charged. As far as I’m concerned anyone who falsely accuses a priest of a sex crime should be charged. In truth, anyone who falsely accuses anyone of a sex crime should be charged.
