SAN ANTONIO –

A South Texas priest is thrown behind bars after San Antonio police say he touched an officer inappropriately.

The priest, 59 year-old, Rocky Henry Lee Grimard, faces charges of indecent exposure and assault.

He was station in Sarita for a short time.

While working undercover at Olmos Park, two officers were approached by Grimard.

According to police he engaged in small conversation and then allegedly asked for oral sex.

Grimard then grabbed one of the officer’s hands and proceeded to expose his genitals to conduct a sexual act, according to reports.

The officer’s identified themselves and arrested Grimard.

In a statement released by the Diocese of Corpus Christi, they said:

“The Diocese of Corpus Christi has been informed that the Rev. Rocky Grimard, a Priest of the Religious Order of Mary Immaculate, was arrested in San Antonio Last Wednesday and charged with indecent exposure. Rev. Grimard did not have an assignment with the Diocese of Corpus Christi, but had been stationed by the Oblates of Mary Immaculate at the Lebh Shomea House of Prayer, a private retreat center operated by that religious order. He currently does not reside in the Diocese.”

We contacted the Religious Order of Mary Immaculate. We are waiting to hear back.

SAN ANTONIO – Olmos Park police say 59 year old Reverend Rocky Grimard was arrested for allegedly exposing himself to an undercover officer.

“A park police officer was working undercover in plain clothes, the suspect approached the officer on a walking trail,” says Officer Misty Floyd, with the San Antonio Police Department.

Grimard is also an ordained priest and a chaplain for the Kennedy County Sheriff’s Office

“He solicited sex after beginning a brief conversation, he also exposed himself and he grabbed the officer’s hand to make contact with himself,” says Floyd.

The undercover officer identified himself and immediately arrested Grimard. Grimard was on staff at Oblate Renewal Center in San Antonio for about six years, before going to Kennedy Ranch. He now faces indecent exposure and assault charges.

Rocky Henri Lee Grimard, 59, arrested for indecent exposure on April 1, 2015.

SAN ANTONIO — A Catholic priest was arrested Wednesday after police say he touched an officer’s crotch Wednesday afternoon on the North Side.

Rocky Henry Lee Grimard, 59, faces a charge of indecent exposure.

While working undercover, two park police covert unit officers were investigating illegal activities at Olmos Park, a police report stated.

As they were on the walking trail on the northwest side of the park, Grimard approached the two and began talking to them, the report stated.

That’s when he allegedly solicited one officer for oral sex, police said, and proceeded to expose his genitals to conduct a sexual act.

The officers said he then touched one of the officers with his hand, after which the two officers identified themselves as police and took Grimard into custody.

Grimard was release from jail Wednesday evening after posting $1,600 bail.

In September 2014, another priest was arrested and charged with indecent exposure in Olmos Park.

Police said Olmos Park is known for having a high rate of sex crimes.

  1. Vincent Brooks says:

This breaks my heart. Father Rocky was instrumental in getting my wife and I “back to church”. He blessed our marriage and baptized both of our daughters. One of his favourite sayings was, “I know my sheep, and my sheep know me”. I guess that was far from the truth. I have since heard very bad stories about Father Rocky when he was with the RCMP, all rumours, but now somewhat believable.
    I pray for him.

    • Sylvia says:

My heart aches for you and your wife Vincent. It is terribly difficult for all Roman Catholics to read or hear news such as this regarding a once trusted and admired priest.

Yes, pray for him, and pray for all those who are suffering as you are right now, and pray for all those whom he has hurt in any way, shape or form.

Can you tell us Vincent where Father served with the RCMP? Was it in Northern Saskatchewan? or was in in another province?

  2. Sylvia says:

I have just added info that Father Grimard was conducting a Lenten Parish Retreat in February 2013 at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic in Vernon Rockville, Connecticut.

  3. Sylvia says:

Just added that Father Rocky Grimard was in Danville, Pennsylvania October 2013 as Homilist for the Jubilee Mass for the Sisters of Saints Cyril and Methodius. The following info was drawn from the Fraternally Yours: First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association, December 2013)

“The Sisters of Sisters of Saints Cyril and Methodius observed the anniversaries of their members with a special day of celebration recently. A Jubilee Liturgy was celebrated at the Basilica of Saints Cyril and Methodius on the Villa Sacred Heart Motherhouse grounds on Danville, PA. Sisters, friends and family travelled from Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Illinois, Indiana, South Carolina, Texas, Connecticut and New York for the event. Reverend David Kalert, O.M.I from the Oblate School of Theology in San Antonia, TX was the Principal Celebrant. Reverened Rocky Grimard, O.M.I. from Immaculata Retreat Center in Williamantic, CT was the Homilist. The Liturgy was followed by a meal for the celebrants and their friends and families at Villa Sacred Heart, and at the Meadows Community Center at Maria Joseph Manor.”

  4. Grace Tuba says:

I can only wonder what drove Father Rockey to this. In my eyes he is right next to God and always will be , I am sure some desperation took place in his heart to make him do this. He has taught me to love God ,We were very close to Father Rockey in Melville and love him dearly and will never stop loving him for what he taught us. He is a good man and all I can say no man should be forced to live alone whether it be man and man or man and woman. Father Rockey you are in our prayers.

    • 1 abandoned sheep says:

Grace, it is difficult for you to understand the errors of others. It is so for all of us.
But, that does not give us an excuse to be in denial.
No one forced this man to become a Priest, and live the celibate life- which he himself chose.
Living alone? That does not compute well with me.

  5. Sylvia says:

I believe it is time yet again for a few quotes from St. Alphonsus de Liguori, a wise and compassionate moral theologian and one of the great doctors of the Church,. These are from the Dignity and Duty of the Priest or Selva, one of his many published works, this one, as the title implies, dealing solely with priests. As you see, he quotes extensively from the works of other great saints of the Church

    — …the unchaste priest, blinded by his impurities, shall no longer make account of any of the injuries that he does to God by his sacrileges, nor of the scandal that he gives to others. He will even go so far as to dare to say Mass in a state of sin. No wonder; for he that has lost the light, easily abandons himself to the commission of every crime.

    — “I think,” says St. Gregory, “that no one injures the interests of God as the priests do whom he has himself charged with the duty of drawing souls from vice, and who by their bad example precipitate them into it.”

    — “Seculars think,” says St. Gregory, “that all is allowed them what they see their pastors do, so that they imitate them the more ardently.”1

    — By his bad example the scandalous priest brings disgrace even on his own ministry, that is, on his sermons, Masses, and all his functions.

    — St. Bernardine of Sienna writes that many, seeing the bad example of the scandalous ecclesiastic, begin even to waver in faith, and thus abandon themselves to vice, despising the sacraments, hell, and heaven.

    — St. John Chrysostom writes that the infidels, seeing the vices of certain priests, would say that the God of the Christians either was not the true God, or that he was not a God of sanctity. For, said they, were he holy, how could he tolerate the sins of his priests?

    — The bad example of the priest necessarily produces immorality among his people, says St. Bernard. Should a secular mistake the way, he alone is lost; but when a priest errs, he shall cause the perdition of many, particularly of those that are under his care, says the same St. Bernard.

    — Speaking especially of priests, our Lord said to St. Bridget: “Upon them greater malediction will come, because by their conduct they damn not only themselves, but also others.”

    — And if, says St. Augustine, we shall scarcely be able to give an account of ourselves, what shall become of the priest that shall have to render an account of the souls he has sent to hell?

    — And St. John Chrysostom says, ” If priests sin, all the people are led to sin. Hence every one must render an account of his own sins; but the priests are also responsible for the sins of others.”

    — Let us, then, dearly beloved priests, guard against bringing to hell by our bad example the souls for whose salvation God has placed us in the world. And for this purpose we must avoid not only actions that are in themselves unlawful, but also those that have the appearance of evil.

    — ” It is worse,” says St. John Chrysostom, “to praise those that do wrong, than to do wrong ourselves. “

  6. Iris says:

My husband and I thought very highly of father Rocky as he will always be thought of as a priest and friend. Seems you have dug the hole for this person and judged him quite well considering you cannot seem to drag up any more dirt on him thus far. Father Rocky in my books is one of the finest priest that I have ever known. Father Rocky never judged anyone. He was most kind hearted soul and whatever happens he is still and always will be father Rocky and will pray for him for nothing but the best. Love you father Rocky. And as you or whoever suggested that we again are hiding how foolish this is certainly out in the open, isn’t it!!! Anyways, lots of prayers for father Rocky as he sent up for many of us in our darkest times in our lives !!!

  7. 1yellowknife says:

Iris: Just hope you don’t come across “Father Rocky” trolling in a nearby park. That could be disillusioning.

    • Iris says:

I would not be afraid to meet Rocky in a park nor would I be afraid to have him over for dinner. Rocky can come and visit me anytime he wants. He is most welcome!!!

      • PJ says:

You poor blind sheep. As you are a female, of course you would not be afraid of him…because he is a homosexual so why would YOU fear him? And to worship this collar the way you do???

  8. Correen says:

It boggles my mind that no one has considered that the alleged officers who have brought these charges forward may be lying. That this is all a set up to intentionally injure an innocent man.
It seems odd to me that a perpetrator of such an incident would approach two men who are together in a park to expose himself for illicit sexual favors. It would be quite a risk would it not to approach two men…..I could see approaching one man perhaps but two…..questionable and dangerous. Necessary and advantageous for the accusers though to corroborate their story.

    • Sylvia says:

You’re serious, are you Correen? You really are serious??

    • PJ says:

Correen, you must be on some really cheap drugs if you truly believe what you wrote. You appear to be protecting that collar in the same way others protect collars by blaming the victims. You’re a real work of art!!!!”

    • Iris says:

That has crossed my mind as well. Thinking it strange that one would approach two people. Guess it will all come out eventually. In the mean time, it is obvious that we pray for rocky as I think knowing how he was as we know him. He is in anguish. He needs prayers and hope for the best for him so in the mean time guess keep crucifying him as some comments made in here without any of us really know what went on and that’s why it is important to pray regardless of what did or what did not take place. Some comments made in here are out totally out of line insulting to say the least, so have to ask who gave any of you the right to be so insulting and almost you have hung this man without knowing anything. So shame on you as well.

  9. B says:

I don’t see that it actually states anywhere that both men were approached together. It merely says that one officer was solicited for oral sex and one inappropriately touched. I would assume these were sequential attempts.

So, it’s “totally out of line insulting” to judge the priest, but quite appropriate to judge the police officers as lying? That’s a double standard.

  10. Susan says:

Fr Rocky is one of the most loving generous ppl on earth. He is always going to b looked upon as one of my best friends and my greatest spiritual director ever! He has helped millions of ppl and I will never throw a stone to condemn him. He must b suffering extremely about this. I wish I was near to help him. I will pray for him forever and I will love him forever! Ye without sin can throw the first stone. Fr himself told me to never judge another and that God’s mercy is for everyone esp the sinner. He also told me, ‘Whoever has a heart full of love…always has something to give!’ I give love!

  11. Iris says:

I agree with you Susan. These people in here poison pens. They don’t know anything but are so condemning as well damning. Jeez. And big deal so he approached adults for sex. It’s really not such a terrible thing to have a desire no matter which way one goes and if it had being children I would not stick up for anyone regardless of what profession they were in. Get off this persons back and go change the word with the real pedophiles. Father Rocky is a wonderful man and priest. He needs prayers and help right now not stones!!

  12. Iris says:

Father Rocky is a kind gentle soul. I pray he gets the help he needs so he can do what he does best and that is kindness as well a very caring man. Will always love father Rocky. This is almost like the Romans with Jesus. Crucify him. Jerks.

  13. Sylvia says:

I’ll just pop in here to give an update:

Father Rocky Grimard’s next court date is

11 May 2015: 9 am, Arraignment, Bexar County Texas, courthouse

At this time the charges against him will be read in court.

Iris…”And big deal so he approached adults for sex. It’s really not such a terrible thing to have a desire “…he took a vow of celibacy…is that no big deal??? If he can break that vow, and have people like you say it’s no big deal, then what else would you condone about this collar? He broke his solemn vow…what kind of example does that set? I burst out laughing at your statement.
“This is almost like the Romans with Jesus. Crucify him. Jerks.”…not even close…what a moronic thing to say!!
Iris and Susan, you make this collar out to be a living saint…what a laugh. If you two haven’t noticed, this is not a site for praising collars. It’s a site for uncovering the sexual abuse plus other abuses caused by collars and that church. Those of us who are in various stages of our recovery at the hands of pervert collars will often react to those who defend collars in abrupt ways. Funny how you two want to pray for this collar yet you have no consideration for prayers in support of those of us who were abused. Thanks.

  15. Sylvia says:

Try not to pay heed PJ. You are quite right, not a thought for the countless victims who were subject to the untramelled “desires” of countless priests.

The sad thing here is that the message is that it really doesn’t matter whether or not Father Rocky was trolling the park or not, and it really doesn’t matter that Father Rocky approached two complete strangers for sex or not, and it really doesn’t matter that Father Rocky exposed himself. It just really doesn’t matter what he did!

    I am floored!

Would it make a teeny bit of difference if one of the two in the park was a daughter? or son? or husband?

  16. Mike Mc says:

I can certainly see why the women above want to pray for Rocky. In fact, I will honestly say a prayer for him too. And I hope God will help him.
But that’s as far as I can go!
The reality is Rocky has a serious problem. And now his actions in the Park….which were unlawful, have gotten him arrested. He has a court date and he will be more than likely found guilty. And so it should be. He may have desires but he chose the wrong channel in the eyes of the Law.
I’m glad he was caught. He probably did this before and got away with it. I have no proof but I’m almost certain at his age he was leading a double life.
I have discussed this with another contributor here named Bob about former Bishop Lahey. He too had a serious problem…and was charged with possession of child pornography.
I knew him as our Bishop and was just as shocked as these women above. In fact I couldn’t believe what I was hearing and reading in the press and news about Lahey. But it was all true! I was really shocked and yet shock turned to understanding. I now understand Lahey led a Dr Jekyll Mr Hyde kind of life.
So my point is that while we can pray for redemption for these two men, the reality is that no matter how much good they did, they really have to go. They have to be defrocked and they have to workout “in or out of prison” their problems. They may never be cured, but they can certainly see their deceptive ways were very wrong and unlawful. And we as the laity have to make sure they are not part of the ministry any more. And the clergy has to let them go for good. They need to work out the rest of their lives and discover the truth about themselves before they die. I really hope they can do this and somehow make amends in another line of work or life.

This site was not created to condemn but to Blog the sex abuse scandal and “betrayals of trust” in the Roman Catholic Church in Canada. Rocky and Lahey have betrayed their Church and God. They betrayed you and me. Lahey betrayed my students.

I’ve no doubt the celibate demands of the Church are too difficult for men -any man for that matter. I really question why the Church continues. But Rocky and Lahey went beyond this…they broke the Law. They both should have left the priesthood years ago.

I hope the above women will continue to pray for Rocky, but the reality is they are seriously troubled in a troubled Church. Rocky and Lahey and many others here on this site have crossed the line. Once is too much.

Father Rocky Grimard’s next courtdate in Texas is:

29 June 2015: 09:00, Pre-Trial Conference, Bexar County Texas, courthouse

I have been told that a pre-trial conference there will start in open court and be open to the public – sometimes something comes up which requires that it move into chambers, but it will start in open court. (Note, this is NOT the trial. )

I just came across the news about Father Rocky a few days ago; needless to say I was shocked when I read it. I used to be an Oblate myself for several years, although I never took permanent vows. Rocky was my first ever contact with the Oblates and it was through him that I joined the congregation. I actually spent part of one summer with him when he was the pastor at St. Henry’s in Melville, Saskatchewan. In all fairness and honesty he never attempted any sort of inappropriate behavior with me at any time. I always found him to be a straightforward man who was a very compassionate and caring priest to his congregation. It was sad to hear of him committing the crime that he did. I only hope and pray that their are no other victims in his past. I fondly remember Rocky and I will say a pray for him and any other people that he may have hurt in the past (I pray that their are none). Although in hindsight I did not know him as well as I thought I did, I do firmly believe that he is the type of person who will own up to his wrong doing and accept whatever punishment the authorities give him. I truly believe that he is remorseful for his wrong actions. Rocky you were there for me when I was going through a difficult time; please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. As Shakespeare said “The quality of mercy is not strained”.

Sylvia, I have always thought highly of the importance of this site. Concerning the case of Father Rocky, I see this as a sad situation. Finding sexual pleasure for many gay closeted men in city parks, woods etc is an old practice. I do not see his case in the same light as I do for many of the clergy mentioned on this site who have sexually abused minors. I see this as an unfortunate event which a man who may have taken steps to hide his true self, but was pushed into the light by his ongoing and of course police officials who may have served better by pursuing more heinous crimes.

What is latest status on charges for FATHER ROCKY?

    • BC says:

I disagree with you. Father Grimard is involved in several Church operated charities and he has derived a living preaching charity. But there is absolutely nothing charitable about exposing oneself in public and Father Grimard’s sexual deviance questions his good judgment and his sanity. If he could not be trusted with keeping his genitals inside his pants he cannot be trusted with other people’s money in his pocket; and he must be restricted in his sexual practices especially around vulnerable persons.

Exibitionism is a perversion. Father Grimard is a pervert; there’s nothing half-way about it. We have to police perverts like Father Grimard. We need to arrest them in public parks, charge them, and process them. Media such as Sylvia’s blog need to be able to inform their audiences about charity scammers like Grimard who preach charity but practice deviant sexual practices.

I miss working with Father Rocky, he is an amazing priest and cares deeply about his work.

That didn’t stop him from abusing me. Was an alter server underneath him. Sad to see he didn’t get jail time or something, but God will judge him.
