A former Roman Catholic priest who pleaded guilty to molesting three altar boys will remain behind bars, court heard Tuesday.
St. Catharine, Ont.’s Donald Grecco appeared for a bail hearing Tuesday afternoon in Belleville, Ont., but he was not released.
Sources said Grecco couldn’t find anybody to vouch for him if he would be released on bail.
The 70-year-old was arrested last week for a breach of his residency requirements.
His arrest came a day after one of his former victims, Michael Blum, announced he is launching a $3-million lawsuit against Grecco, former bishop James Wingle and the Roman Catholic Diocese of St. Catharines for abuse and negligence. The civil suit hasn’t been proven in court.
Grecco is scheduled to be sentenced for the sexual abuse crimes on Oct. 29.
