A former Niagara priest and admitted child molester learns his fate today.

Donald Grecco is scheduled to be sentenced on three counts of gross indecency in Hamilton court.

610 CKTB News will be there.

The Crown wants Grecco to serve between two and a half and four years behind bars for abusing altar boys in the 1970s and 80s.

They also want to keep his DNA on file and have his name on the national sex offenders registry.

But Grecco’s lawyer Brian Donnelly is after a conditional sentence to be served in the community.

70 year old Grecco has list of health problems including cancer, colitis, arthritis, hypertension and anxiety.

Donnelly says his client would be better off getting care in the community than in jail.

Grecco is also the subject of a two separate $3 million suits by victims Michael Blum [bloom] and James Hennessey.

The St. Catharines Diocese and its former bishop James Wingle are also named in both cases.
