(Quebec) From the recruiting father to the director Guy Pilote , a young boy from the North Shore has suffered the onslaught of four Redemptorists during his stay in Saint -Alphonse Seminary. Each week. For four years.
This student , the sixth victim of 18 to testify at trial as a class action , was recruited, as were the others, by father Xiste Langevin .
When he went to Sainte- Anne -de- Beaupré in the spring of 1978 for the entrance examination , the priest made him sit in his office. While the boy answered the questions, Langevin seized the opportunity to take the boy’s penis in his hand over his clothes. ” He squeezed hard, it was unbearable , says in a soft but firm voice , the 46-year -old man .
Once admitted into the Seminary , father Xiste Langevin repeated the atacks about five times.
The director/father , Hervé Blanchet, would also have abused this boy, and many others, said another witness. The parents entrusted some pocket money for their child to the father administrator. “Every time , the condition to get some of the money was to kiss him on the mouth ,” the witness recounts.
In the “secondaire deux”(grade 10), the young man falls into the nets of Father Raymond -Marie Lavoie, a dormitory supervisor and professor of the organ instrument.
At least once a week , Lavoie would ask him to lie on the floor , face up, on his back. ” He lay on top of me, rubbing on me and kissed me on the mouth ,” the witness recalled .
Each time the victim adopted the same attitude : wait for it to end, without moving.
Like all other victims called to testify , he never even thought to denounce a priest, the absolute authority for these young boys from devout families.
A second director involved.
During the same period , the school principal , Father Guy Pilote – ” friendly and impressive with his gruff voice ,” says the witness – became interested in him.
Using the same method as Raymond -Marie Lavoie , he called the student using the school intercom . “When someone was called , there was a great silence , the witness said . Everybody knows, but nobody talks about it. ”
Once in the office of the Director, the young person must be seated in the chair of Father Pilote. The latter is behind him and, said the witness, would begin to stroke his penis over his pants .
One other victim reported on Tuesday about being sodomized by another director of the Seminary , Father François Plourde .
After college, the young man chose to study psychology. “I wanted to understand what I had done to have this happen to me,” said the witness, who says he still feels some form of guilt.
The native of the North Shore has never told his parents, aged 84 , what happened to him. “I do not know if my mother could live with this , he says. Maybe it would just make her feel guilty. ”
Today , he wants to finally just feel lighter. And he does not hesitate , at the end of his testimony , to denounce the Redemptorists who still refuse to admit any wrongdoing. “They had a responsibility to protect us from these things , even if there were many, and even if it meant implicating the director! ”

Québec) Du père recruteur jusqu’au directeur Guy Pilote, un jeune garçon de la Côte-Nord a subi les assauts de quatre Rédemptoristes durant son séjour au Séminaire Saint-Alphonse. Chaque semaine. Durant quatre ans.
Cet élève, la sixième victime sur 18 à témoigner au procès en recours collectif, avait été recruté comme tous les autres par le père Xiste Langevin.
Lorsqu’il se présente à Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré au printemps 1978 pour faire l’examen d’admission, le prêtre le fait asseoir dans son bureau. Pendant que le garçon répond aux questions, Langevin en profite pour prendre le pénis du garçon dans sa main, par-dessus les vêtements. «Il serrait très fort, c’était à la limite du supportable, raconte, d’une voix douce mais assurée, l’homme aujourd’hui âgé de 46 ans.
Une fois le jeune admis au Séminaire, le père Xiste Langevin aurait récidivé à environ cinq reprises.
Le père économe, Hervé Blanchet, aurait aussi abusé de ce garçon, et de plusieurs autres, a dit un autre témoin. Les parents confiaient l’argent de poche de leur enfant à ce père administrateur. «À chaque fois, la condition pour avoir de l’argent était de l’embrasser sur la bouche», a raconté le témoin.
En deuxième secondaire, le jeune homme tombe dans les filets du père Raymond-Marie Lavoie, son surveillant de dortoir et professeur d’orgue.
Au moins une fois par semaine, Lavoie lui demandait de se coucher au sol, visage vers le ciel. «Il se couchait par-dessus moi, se frottait sur moi et m’embrassait sur la bouche», se souvient le témoin.
Chaque fois, la victime adoptait la même attitude : attendre que ça finisse, sans bouger.
Comme toutes les autres victimes appelées à la barre, il n’a jamais même songé à dénoncer un prêtre, l’autorité absolue pour ces jeunes venant de familles pratiquantes.
Un deuxième directeur impliqué
Durant la même période, le directeur de l’école, le père Guy Pilote – «sympathique et impressionnant avec sa grosse voix», dira le témoin – commence à s’intéresser au garçon.
Utilisant la même méthode que Raymond-Marie Lavoie, il appelle l’élève en utilisant l’interphone de l’école. «Quand quelqu’un était appelé, il y avait un grand silence, raconte le témoin. Tout le monde le sait, mais personne ne parle.»
Une fois arrivé dans le bureau du directeur, le jeune doit prendre place dans le fauteuil du père Pilote. Ce dernier se place derrière lui et, affirme le témoin, commence à lui caresser le pénis par-dessus le pantalon.
Une victime avait confié mardi avoir été sodomisée par un autre directeur du Séminaire, le père François Plourde.
Après son cégep, le jeune homme a choisi d’étudier la psychologie. «Je voulais comprendre qu’est-ce que j’avais fait pour que ça arrive», a expliqué celui qui dit encore ressentir une forme de culpabilité.
Le natif de la Côte-Nord n’a jamais confié à ses parents, âgés de 84 ans, ce qui lui était arrivé. «Je ne sais pas si ma mère pourrait vivre avec ça, se demande-t-il. Elle va peut-être juste se sentir coupable.»
Aujourd’hui, il veut se sentir enfin plus léger. Et il n’hésite pas, en fin de témoignage, à dénoncer les Rédemptoristes qui refusent toujours d’admettre des torts. «Ils avaient la responsabilité de nous protéger de ces choses-là, même s’il y en avait plusieurs et même si ça impliquait le directeur!»
