Trial is moving along

The sex abuse trial of previously convicted molester and former Cornwall Ontario teacher  Marcel Lalonde trial continues today at noon:.

16 November 2017: NOON, continuation of TRIAL which commenced 12 Dec. 2016, Cornwall, Ontario  courthouse (29 Second St. W., )

Marcel Lalonde took the stand in his own defense yesterday.  His examination in chief and cross examination are completed.

Defence is calling two more witnesses today and that’s the end of testimony.  Note again, the trial continues at NOON today.

The trial is moving along a little faster than anticipated.  Closing arguments will be given tomorrow (Friday, 17 November,)  The  12 December previously booked date will probably be used for the judge to render her decision.

There is a publication ban on the name of the complainant and anything which would identify him.  Unfortunately I missed the testimony given by the complainant and his mother so don’t have the actual details of the allegations.  After hearing Marcel Lalonde testify I have a pretty good idea what the allegations are, but will steer clear of speculating lest I create confusion.

The courtroom was virtually bare.  Aside my husband and I, there were two female Lalonde  supporters in the courtroom.  That was it!

I’ll give a little more information later.

There was, alas, no media in the courtroom.

Please keep the complainant in your prayers.

Ex priest and former fugitive Eric Dejaeger had a court date yesterday in Iqaluit.  This was to be an update on preparations for his appeal .  It is highly doubtful that Dejaeger would have been there.   As before, he probably appeared by video cam from his current residence at the Warkworth Institution, a medium security facility  near  Campbellford, Ontario.

Dejeager is serving 19 years in jail.  Actually  he’s serving 11 years,  8 years was deducted as 2:1 credit for time served.  As per court order ,  Dejager is being represented by a court appointed lawyer whose tab will be picked up by the Attorney General of Canada.

Hopefully there will be some coverage of what’s happening .

Enough for now,
