A little something interesting I just came across related to Father Gaetan Deschamps
It’s an 03 April 1953 article from The Glengarry News in Alexandria, Ontario. Back in 1953 the diocese was the Diocese of Alexandria, and the seat of the bishop was in Alexandria. Two years after Bishop Eugene Larocque was installed as bishop he moved the seat to Cornwall and diocese was renamed the Diocese of Alexandria-Cornwall.

Note that Gaetan Deschamps was subdeacon. This was 1953 and he was ordained to the priesthood in 1956. I have no idea where he attended seminary, but he would have been a seminarian.
And look who was deacon: Father Hollis Lapierre
Does it mean anything? I have no idea, but, it is intriguing to find Deschamps in Cornwall and in sanctuary on a Friday in April, and to find him there alongside Father Lapierre.
I just wanted to pass that along.
Enough for now,
Sylvia
P.S. Does anyone know where Father Deschamps attended seminary? Or where he was raised?
I will see what I can find out but I am a wee bit shunned by that family since passing some fliers around. John MacDonald
Father Gaetan Deschamps was born and raised in St. Isidore. I will try to pry a little more info when and where I can.
