Nearly four full years after he was charged Father Daniel Moreau has concluded that, yes, indeed, he did spend hours ‘dabbling’ in child porn. What, I wonder, prompted this extremely belated admission of guilt?
It never ceases to amaze me how long it takes so many of these men to think, – and think and think some more – before finally determining that ‘oh yes, now that I think about it, I did do it.’
Did you see this. I realize it’s a google translation, but think it’s probably fairly accurate:
Daniel Moreau’s lawyer, Gilles Thibault, admitted to the judge that the amount of juvenile pornographic files was “significant”.
“But despite Mr. Moreau’s scouting throughout his life, no one came forward to complain about gestures, attempts or maneuvers of sexual touching. No victim filed a complaint. It’s more like a solitary pleasure, “he said.
Mr. Thibault is joking, is he not? As a lawyer he surely is well aware of the fact that victims of clerical sexual abuse take decades to come forward – often 30, 40 – even as long as 70 years?
As for Thibault minimizing the crimes of his priest client’s perverted infatuation and obsession with child pornography by referring to it as a “solitary pleasure,” I am at a loss for words.
Anyway, Father Daniel Moreau’s next court date is:
26 April 2014: sentencing hearing, Sorel-Tracy Quebec courthouse, Quebec
Please keep all those who have been negatively impacted by this priest in your prayers, and please pray that if there any who were sexually abused by this priest they will find the courage and strength to contact police.
The next court date for previously convicted and currently incarcerated former church organist Brian Lucy is:
10 March 2017: 2 pm, judicial pre-trial (NOT open to the public) Brockville Ontario courthouse (41 Court House Square)
As I said elsewhere, his pre-trial hearing of yesterday was, for reasons unknown, adjourned and has been rescheduled to the above date.
Note again that this upcoming court date is NOT open to the public.
Enough for now,
