The next court date for Father Amer Saka is:
17 November 2016: 09:30 am, “to be spoken to,” courtroom #5, London Ontario courthouse ( 80 Dundas St.)
You may recall that Father Saka is the priest with Chaldean Catholic Church in Canada who was charged 13 July 2016 Father Saka with fraud over $5,000 and possessing proceeds of property or thing exceeding $5,000. Police will say only that the total sum of money ‘lost’ was in excess of $500,000. Saka claimed that he has a gambling problem.

I’m not quite certain what happened to the charges against Brother Georges Sarrazin, a religious brother with the Congregation of the Holy Cross who was charged in 2012 in relation to allegations that he sexually abused boys at Notre Dame College between 1966 and 1980. It seems that the charges have been stayed, or withdrawn. I was told today by staff at the Montreal courthouse that they were “suspended” in June 2015. Sadly however I was, unable to find out what exactly that means 🙁 I tried the prosecutor’s office and the duty counsel, but, no one will tell me anything because I’m not a member of the immediate family 🙁
So, what does it mean that the charges were suspended? It sounds as though they have been withdrawn? Actually, I wouldn’t be surprised that Sarrazin is now incapable of standing trial or deceased. He was born in 1921 so would be 95-years-of-age.
Can anyone help? I have tried without luck searching obituaries. Perhaps a search using French terms would produce some results?

I am working my way through and jotting notes from the Decision on L’Eveque Catholique Romain de Bathurst and Aviva Insurance Company of Canada – the lawsuit filed by the Archdiocese of Moncton New Brunswick against its insuring agent, Aviva. The large and distressingly informative ruling has a lot of information regarding the cover-up and recycling of Father Levi Noel and some details regarding the numbers of victims who came forward after then Bishop Valery Vianneau retained the Honourable Michel Bastarache to head up the diocesan “conciliation” process back in May 2010.
I will post everything when I have it all sorted out.
A reminder that the diocese lost its bid to recoup $3.3 million from Aviva as compensation for monies paid to victims.
