A new name has been added to the Accused list…
Father Javier De Los Angeles Cortazar, a priest formerly with the Archdiocese of e of Monterrey, Mexico and, as of August 2014, now a priest incardinated in the Diocese of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, is scheduled to go to trial next April 2017. De Los Angeles Cortaza, born in late 1968 and ordained in 1996, is charged with sexual assaulting a fellow priest in Saskatchewan in 2014.
I have as yet been unable to find out when the charges were laid, but do know from the following that 18 August 2014 he was incardinated in the Diocese of Pronce Albert ( Diocese of Prince Albert Bishop letter re incaridnation of Father Javier De Los Angeles Cortazar)
Was he charged before or after he was received into the diocese?
And, why has this been hush hush? Has anyone heard anything about these charges before now?
Further to that, scroll down the page and read the media coverage. Why has the bishop not suspended Father De Los Angeles Cortazar? True enough, the trial is pending, but the RCMP did find sufficient evidence to lay charges, did they not? Why then has this priest been permitted to continue to function as a parish priest? Is it not better to err on the side of caution?
Anyway, the trial date is set:
17-21 April 2017: TRIAL, Meadow Lake Saskatchewan Court house (207-3rd Ave. E., Meadow Lake, Sask) – Court of Queen’s Bench courtroom.
Time permitting I will try to get and post the date the charges were laid. I am curious.
Also, if anyone knows when Father De Los Angeles Cortazar arrived in the Prince Albert Diocese woud you please post or pass along that info. And, if you also happen know what took him from Mexico to Prince Albert Saskatchewan please pass that info along too 🙂
As always, please keep the complainant in your prayers.

The Crownw was to make an argument to present similar fact evidence. I see no coverage as yet of the outcome. If you spot anything please pass it along.
And, yes, please keep Hoskin’s victims and the complainant in your prayers

Yes. we’re back! We had a wonderful week visiting family and soaking in the beautiful scenery of Nova Scotia and Cape Breton. We took a run around the Cabot Trail. It had been decades since we last drove the trail – so glad we decided to do it again. We had both forgotten how truly beautiful Cape Breton is. We even branched off the trail and took that little jog on up to Meat Cove – a first for us and worth every mile and minute 🙂
Now back to catching up on court dates 🙂
Enough for now,
Sylvia
