There is much to say about Day Three of the Father Robyn Gwyn sex abuse trial in Kingston, Ontario yesterday. It will take a while. I am working on it 🙂 For now, a quick mention of the fact that Robyn Gwyn, a late vocation to the priesthood, attended Holy Apostles College and Seminary in Cromwell, Conn., from 1984 until 1987.
There are a number of men with “late vocations” to the priesthood who attend Holy Apostles. They have some sort of program geared for men with “late vocations.” But, the seminary also takes in young men pursuing the priesthood, and the college itself is a liberal arts degree-granting college.
But, here’s an interesting thing. There are two men on the list of Accused on Sylvia’s Site who attended the college, both were ” late vocations”:
(1) Father Stephen Amesse
Amesse was ordained in 1999. His sex abuse trial is scheduled for 19 January 2017
(2) Father Joe LeClair
Father LeClair was ordained in 1986. He has been convicted for fraud and theft and spent a year in jail. More recently, he entered a guilty plea to charges related to impaired driving.
There’s one other priest I know of who attended the seminary, and who was also a “late vocation: Father John Corapi.
Corapi, a priest with the Society of Our Lady of the Most Holy Trinity (SOLT) and once popular Catholic evangelist who had a regular program on with the EWTN, was a ‘late’ vocation to the priesthood. The last I heard of Corapi was he was leaving the priesthood, and this after allegations of affairs with women and drug use.
Enough for now,
Sylvia
