Finally, a chance to give an update on court dates:
(1) Father Linus Bastien
Father Linus Bastien, a priest with the Diocese of London, Ontario who was first charged in October 2011, now faces at least 22 charges from seven complainants and has yet to go to trial.
Bastien is disputing the charges, claiming he never should have been charged. His challenge was to be heard in court over a period of four to five days starting this past Monday (11 January 2016). I just checked with the court and have learned that the hearing never really got off the ground on Monday. Bastien’s lawyer has requested some sort of assessment order. Consequently, the next court date for Father Linus Bastien is:
15 January 2016: to reschedule application certiorari (?), Windsor Superior Court of Justice (245 Windsor Avenue)
I am uncertain as to what exactly will happen on Monday, but, as I understand it, the application is supposed to rescheduled.
I encourage those in the area who are free to do so to get to court tomorrow morning to try to get a sense for what is happening here.
Please keep the complainants and their families in your prayers
(2) Father Denis Vaillancourt
The next court date for Church canon lawyer and former Chancellor for the scandal-plagued Diocese of Alexandria, Ontario is:
09 March 2016: 09:00 am, “to set a date,” Alexandria, Ontario courthouse (110 Main St. North)
As I said elsewhere, I unfortunately have no idea what the date is being set for. If anyone knows, please post the information as a comment or contact me.
Please keep the complainant in your prayers.
(3) Father Charles Picot
Previously convicted serial molester Father Charles Picot has had his sex abuse trial postponed:
13 January 2016: Legal Process Leaves Alleged Victim in State of Anxiety and Depression
The next court date for Father Picot is:
08 February 2016: 09:30 am, to set new trial date, Bathurst courthouse (254 St. Patrick St.), Bathurst, New Brunswick
The current charges against this wolf in sheep’s clothing were laid November 2013.
And, yes, believe it or not, after being charged four times, convicted twice, “acquitted’ once and currently going to trial yet again, this molester from the Diocese of Bathurst, New Brunswick is still a priest in the Roman Catholic Church.
Please pray for Father Picot’s many victims.
(4) Father John Sullivan
The next court date for previously convicted serial clerical molester Father John Sullivan (Diocese of Sault Ste. Marie) is:
09 February 2016: 09:30 am, “to be spoken to,” courtroom #101, North Bay, Ontario court house (360 Plouffe Street)
Please keep Father Sullivan’s numerous victims in your prayers.
And, yes, sad to say, this serial molester is, like Father Picot, still a priest in the Roman Catholic Church.
Many thanks to all for your kind thoughts and prayers. Life is slowly starting to settle down since the accident. We are picking up our “new” (used) car today. It will be good to at least have that taken care of and out of the way 🙂
En9ough for now,
Sylvia
