Father John E. Sullivan, a  previously convicted clerical molester with the Diocese of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, had  a court date yesterday in North Bay, Ontario.

No surprise:  his next court date is:

12 January 2015:  09:30 am, “to be spoken to,”  courtroom #101, North Bay, Ontario court house (360 Plouffe Street)

I say no surprise  because this courtroom door has been revolving since the Father Sullivan was first charged in this second wave of charges away back in June 2012!

My heart goes out to the complainants.  This has to be so terribly frustrating and so disappointing for them.  Please keep them in your prayers.  Indeed, please keep Father Sullivan’t many many victims in your prayers. – they watch these legal shenanigans unfold  too.

And, yes, I refer to him as “Father.”  Alas he still is a priest.  He entered a guilty plea in 1992, and, he’s still a priest.  True he may not have faculties to say Mass and/or hear Confessions, but, he is still a priest.  He has not been defrocked.

It is beyond me why anyone in the hierarchy would want to keep a predator like this in the priesthood.  He is unfit to be a priest, and sullies the ranks of the priesthood by his presence.

What an affront to Almighty God these wolves in sheep’s clothing mingled amongst the priesthood must be!

I turly don’t know what the heck is going on with this lawsuit filed by the Archdiocese of Moncton, New Brunswick against the Co-operators

16 December 2015:  Archdiocese of Moncton sues the Co-operators to cover abuse claims

It sounds as though Co-operators want to take it to trial?  Is that it?

Mark your calendars.  The one day preliminary hearing for Father Stephen Amesse is scheduled for this coming Monday:

21 December 2015:  10 am, courtroom #2, Preliminary Hearing, Ottawa Ontario courthouse (161 Elgin St.)

I  strongly encourage those who can do so to attend.  I unfortunately will be away for Christmas so will miss it.  I would dearly love to have been able to go.  That of course is the trouble with court dates which are set just days before Christmas:  by accident or design it certainly guarantees that there will be few in attendance.

A reminder for those who day attend that there will be a publication ban on all evidence.  Please, therefore, do NOT post any news regarding the testimony.

Please, as always, keep the complainant in your prayers.

We are leaving tomorrow to spend Christmas with our daughter and her family in the States.  The ‘sleigh’ is packed in the garage and ready to go.  We hope to have wheels in the well around 04:30 am 🙂

I will keep tabs on Sylvia’s Site site and moderate comments while gone, but anticipate the  days will be rich and full, from the moment we arrive on Friday evening until our return just before the New Year.  I also have a number of emails to answer – will get at those over the next few days, it’s just too late now 🙁

Enough for now,

Sylvia

I can’t bring myself to call sullivan anything but a piece of shit. And as far as calling any pervert collar “father”, no way! They don’t deserve that honour and it paints the innocent ones who do great work with the same brush. I’m to the point where I feel disgusted talking to or shaking hands with any collar based on the inaction by that church and frankie.

PJ, you need to realize that by far the most of the Priests are good , dedicated men, who do their best to spread the Word of God.
Your bitterness towards one, or a few, does not paint all the same way.
And, I wish you would stop calling my Church the names you call it.
It is made up of sinners like myself, trying to change and live life better.
Hate is never an admirable trait !

We are all entitled to our opinions 1as. I’m happy for you and your progress, but don’t try to tell me what to say or not to say. The abuse and subsequent fights with that church and its defenders is ongoing and taxing. I haven’t walked in your shoes and will never fully understand what you went through but I support you in your struggles. Some heal faster than others…I’m still battling my demons.

When Sylvia learned I left the Catholic Church, she was somewhat saddened by my choice and yet she respected my decision.

Not once Sylvia told me to pray this prayer, talk to a different priest or go to another church.
There is a reason for that and somewhat deep down many folks know it too but they seem to forget just because they are having a not so good a day.

By the way, I just came back from a short visit from Boston.

Needless to say I couldn’t help thinking about that breaking story in the newspaper years ago in “The Boston Globe”, the movie “SPOTLIGHT” is about.

I am so grateful to all those journalists that persevere for so long to get that important story out.

I did see the movie “Spotlight” and it is so well done.

Happy New Year to you PJ and to all who visit this site.

          Lina
