Oblate ex-priest and serial child molester Eric Dejaeger is supposed to appear in the Iqaluit court today to plead guilty to some of the sex abuse charges from Edmonton Alberta.  The charges were laid away back in November 2011.  Nearly four years!!!

Dejaeger , who was deported from his native Belgium in January 2011, eventually faced 80 sex-related charges at his Iqualuit trial.  He entered guilty pleas to eight of the charges and was convicted on a further 24.   On 04 February of this year Dejaeger was sentenced to 19 years in jail  – 8 years were deducted as 2:1 credit for time served, therefore 11 years left to serve) .  He has been incarcerated at the detention centre in Iqaluit since his return to Canada.  He will be shipped off to a federal prison after the Edmonton charges are dealt with.

Please pass along any news and/or links to coverage on the outcome, and, as always, please keep Dejaeger’s many victims in your prayers.

Enough for now,

Sylvia
