Well, looks like the Archdiocese of Moncton is pulling out all the stops and digging deep into someone’s’ pockets for the Father Yvon Arsenault defence.
Two articles posted today:
02 February 2015: Former priest maintains he’s innocent of sex offences: lawyer
02 February 2015: “A trial date for Yvon Arsenault postponed again” & original French text
Note that on one hand the month in November for trial was not good for Gilles Lemieux, Fr. Arsenault’s lawyer, but on the other hand Lemieux told the press that those dates will probably still be used: ““We anticipate some pretty lengthy pre-trial motions in this…”
And then, as if he’s talking of some sort of game, he adds, “…but I can’t let the cat out of the bag just yet.”
Game or no, – one month for pre-trial motions?
One month!
Oh my.
Will the Bastarache files factor into these potential pre-trial motions?
Did defence even get those files I wonder? I don’t know one way or the other.
Anyway, possibly one month of pre-trial motions in the offing.
Possibly.
Remember, Mr. Lemieux didn’t want to let the cat out of the bag “just yet.”
Heaven only knows what the cat is.
Time will tell.
One month for pre-trial motions?
$$$$$$s
Keep the complainants in your prayers. There is a long wait ahead to trial. And, yes, of course – there is that month later this year which MAY be committed to some pretty lengthy pre-trial motions.
I have my thoughts on what’s going on here: best I keep them to myself.
Enough for now,
Sylvia
