It’s been a long day. For that matter, it’s been a long 10 days since 13 January 2014 when I headed down to the Frontenac courthouse in Kingston, Ontario for the sex abuse trial – and eventual conviction – of Father Rene Labelle.
Today there was the sentencing hearing for Father Joe LeClair in courtroom #10 at the Ottawa courthouse. And then people to talk to. So much to think about. Many stories to tell.
My plan now is to get all media coverage on the Eric Dejaeger trial in Iqaluit Nunavut posted, and then on to the coverage on the Father Joe LeClair sentencing hearing posted.
Regarding the latter, I have posted the following article which gives Father LeClair’s apology verbatim
22 January 2014: Transcript: Father Joe LeClair apologizes to parishioners for fraud
Once I get the media coverage posted I will blog. I know many are waiting fora blog on the Father Labelle trial. It is coming. Ditto that on the Father LeClair sentencing hearing. Due to transportation and technological issues it is very difficult for me to keep on top of the blog when I am attending court. One day away is no problem. Several days is 🙁 So, apologies to all who are waiting for news of a particular case. As I say, and it’s a promise, it is coming.
The Father LeClair sentencing hearing wrapped up today. He will be sentenced 19 March 2014. There are now no court dates which I can attend in the next few weeks and I have no travel commitments. I have the time and can set my mind to do what I have been wanting to do.
I will start posting media coverage. I may comment here and there as I post, but the first object of the exercise now is to get the media coverage up.
Enough for now,
Sylvia
