Father Raymond Lavoie, a Redemptoritst priest, is scheduled for sentencing today (10 February 2012) in a Quebec City courthouse. I am sorry, but I don’t have any information other than that – because of language issues it is not easy for me to get information.
Lavoie pleaded guilty last July to 21 counts of sexual assaults, indecent assault and gross indecency related to the sex abuse of 13 12 other young boys who were boarders at Seminaire St. Alphonse, in Ste.-Anne-de-Beaupre, just outside Quebec City.
Please keep the victims in your prayers, and, as always, please pass along links to media coverage and/or news of the outcome.

I have posted the Statement of Claim of P.J.J., a victim of Father John E. Sullivan. In 1990 Sullivan, a priest in the Diocese of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, entered a guilty plea to 32 offenses involving 13 altar boys. The abuse transpired in Midland, Wawa, Sault Ste Marie, and North Bay, Ontario.
PJJ, one of three brothers molested by Sullivan, was also one of the 13 men who had Sullivan charged.
Good for you PJJ!
As an aside, I am intrigued to see that in the mid 80s Sullivan was serving at St. Mary of the People in Oshawa, Ontario. That is in the Archdiocese of Toronto. I wonder what took him out of the the Soo and into the Toronto area?
