There is a trial confirmation for Father Philip Jacobs today at the Victoria court house, Victoria, BC. From what I read online, this hearing is usually a short hearing conducted about a month before trial to affirm that the Crown and defence are prepared to move forward and to ensure that the number of days set for trial are adequate. If either side feels and can prove for good reason that it is not prepared to go to trial on the set date a new date can be set. The accused can enter a guilty plea at this time. If that happens the judge can address the plea at the time, or it can be held to the start of the trial.
I think this process is unique to British Columbia?
Jacobs trial is currently scheduled to run 07 to 10 November 2011.
Please keep the complainants in your prayers: every court date is difficult.
Please, if anyone hears the outcome of today’s hearing please pass it along via a blogged comment, or email me at email@example.com.
Gabriel Del Bianco‘s pre-trial hearing which started 22 September 2011 continues today. We should have an idea after this where this is going. Hopefully a trial will be set? or a guilty plea in the offing?
As above, please keep the complainants in your prayers, and please pass on any news of the outcome, re next court date or whatever it may be.
I have as yet been unable to get the info on convicted molester Monsignor Martin Wain together. It’s all rather convoluted to begin with, plus, I must admit I have been distracted. My son (the one with pneumonia) is not faring too well – one trip back to the hospital over the weekend and back to emergency again early this morning. I am anxiously awaiting word of what’s happening now. Please say another wee prayer 🙂
As I wait I will get back to work on trying to put the Wain info into something which is easy to grasp in a quick read rather than spread all over various articles and contradictory times and dates.
Enough for now,
