All in vain

Father Eric Dejaeger’s bail hearing has been put over to 21 March 2011.  The word is that the wait continues for information of some sort from Belgian authorities.

What in the name of goodness could they be waiting for that would impact his bail hearing?  Is it possible that there are sex abuse allegations in Belgium?  Could that be it?

Anyway, it turns out that it is in vain that those poor souls from Igloolik made the trip to Iqaluit to see Dejaeger.  I hear via the grapevine that those who were there yesterday heard that Dejaeger didn’t show because he had heard they would be in the courtroom.  That may well be the case.  I have no idea.  But, no doubt if Dejaeger was planning on showing just for a little break from the monotony of jail he would have changed his mind if he knew there was a little contingent of adults from Igloolik waiting in the courtroom to see him – adults whom he knew all too well when they were children.

Keep these people in your prayers.  This is a very trying time for all of them.  I am hoping that a counselling team gets dispatched to Igloolik to help them through this.

Enough for now,

One of the lines in this article is that Mahar and the Crown are getting weary of the delay, I sure hope they don’t turf it because they feel the accused has a right to a speedy court process. Would be a bigger shame to the people of igloolik to get their day after all these years and get it thrown out because if took to long to get infomramtion form Belgium. Was he released or is he still incarcerated. If he stays in jail he can have this considered in his final sentence and they would go lighter as result.

It took 9 years to get Dejaeger from Belgium; what’s a few weeks to get information? What baffles is that there is a bail hearing at all……A covicted molester AND a known fugitive from justice…..WHY even the consideration?
