Dare I ask?

From across the border in the United States another horror story of abuse.  I have a link to a video clip in the first article.  I think it’s worth watching.

10 February 2011: Philadelphia priests and Catholic teacher arrested for sexual abuse

10 February 2011: 3 Priests, 1 Teacher, Charged With Sexual Assault

Dare I ask if in Canada this would this constitute a ring? and/or conspiracy?

No matter.  It’s reprehensible.

What’s both amazing and welcome news here is that charges have also been filed against Monsignor William Lynn.  Lynn, who investigated reports of clerical sexual abuse for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia from 1992 to 2004, has been charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.  According to the philadelphia.com report:

Lynn has been accused of endangering children by knowingly allowing dangerous priests to continue in ministry roles in which they had access to minors.

Hallelujah!  It’s high time those who harbour(ed) and protect(ed) these molesters are held accountable!

I have news of two more priests who should be added to the list of Accused.

(1) Father Ivan Payne, a convicted Irish priest with multiple victims in Ireland, studied canon law at St. Paul University in the 70s.  During his years here he  helped out at St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church in Gatineau, Quebec.  I will get what information I can and add him to the list.

(2) Father Joseph P. Moore, an American  priest who was removed from a diocese in the States after reports in the late 70s that he had molested young boys.  Moore spent about a year in Ottawa in the late 80s living at a house for pre-seminary students studying Philosophy.  I will get what information I can here as well and add Moore to the list.

Enough for now,

Sylvia
