David Silmserhad a heart attack last evening. He is the Brockville hospital. He will be transferred to the Kingston hospital tomorrow.
This is a shocker. Dave is 50 years old.
I am told he is in a lot of pain.
Please please pray for Dave, his dear wife Pam, his mother, the children and the large Silmser family.
My goodness just this past Monday was Pam’s birthday. Dave, Pam and the whole family celebrated at a local Cornwall restaurant. Some of us who had attended the inquiry on Monday got wind of the event and decided to pop around to wish Pam a Happy Birthday. We joined the group for supper. A very pleasant two hours. There must have been 25 to 30 of the Silmser family – a beautiful family. It’s the first time I met Dave’s mother, the woman Dave so desperately wanted the apology for when he first approached the diocese in 1992. Such a lovely lady. She loves her boy 🙂 And he his mother 🙂 I had a deeper understanding of Dave’s over-riding desire to get an apology for his mother. It’s hard to put to words, but I saw it.
Lots of prayers please. This truly comes as a shock.
Cornwall has wrought so much pain for so many. It just goes on and on and on. The vilifying and denigrating. People can put up a brave face, but they can only take so much. Somewhere this it has to end.
Those attending Mass tomorrow please remember Dave in a special way.
Pam, Mrs. Silmser, I know I speak for many when I say that our love, thoughts and prayers are with you. Give Dave our love.
Written submissions for Phase 2 have been posted on the Cornwall Public Inquiry website. They are short. An easy read. I will post them on theinquiry.ca tomorrow evening, for now they can be accessed via this external link.
There is nothing more to say.
