Ah, uhm, ah, er…

Murray Segal, Deputy Attorney General, is testifying.

Ah, uhm, ah, er…..

Tune in to get the flavour first hand.

I am having a hard time getting the right word.  The impression I get is that Segal wants the world to know he considered Garry Guzzo an insufferable fool.  At this point, I do believe that Segals’s asides about Guzzo are, if not condescending, deprecating..

The following have been posted:

28 January 2009:  Transcript of full day of school board testimony at the Cornwall Public Inquiry

28 January 2009: Lots to do before inquiry wraps up

29 January 2009:  Cops never contacted about abuse

29 January 2009:  Last day of testimony at the inquiry

Page for yesterday’s witnesses

Re the “Last day of testimony..” post, I could swear when I first listened to that audio clip I heard Peggy Parker say that Cornwall will be the safest place to raise children.  When I went back to transcribe the clip I heard nothing about “safest place”  but I believe it was right where I have inserted the “?”   I may be mistaken and confused.  I see however Mrs. Parker is referenced as saying so much in the text which accompanies the clip.

Hope springs eternal!

Later today I will post the Robin’s Report which received high profile yesterday.  I don’t have the list of the 101 recommendations but there is a bit of a recap in the final chapter of the report.  Apparently of the 101 recommendations only somewhere in the order of 25% have been given heed – a reminder for all that that’s what tends to come of inquiry reports (the Robins Report was Justice Robins report on his inquiry into a case of sexual abuse in a Sault Ste. Marie school.)

I will also post the Ontario Catholic Teacher’s Association decision re Marcel Lalonde which was kindly sent my way.

Here’s where Robert Sabourin was in 1979.  This is after he was allowed to quietly resign from his teaching duties at La Citadelle in Cornwall.  Penetanguishene is a small community directly North of Toronto on the tip of Georgian Bay, Ontario.

Who, I wonder, gave Sabourin’s references?

We heard from former Superintendent Jean-Paul Scott yesterday that if had pictures he could perhaps have taken further action!   He and school principal Jeannine Seguin presumably did not confront Sabourin.  Nor did they contact police.  Nor did they contact CAS.  Nor did they seem to take into account the fact that Mrs. Sabourin was obviuosly not afriad to speak out.  Nor did they ask who was in the pictures which Sabourin shredded after he knew his wife was about to take action.

And Sabourin merrily moves on to Penetanguishene!

How disgusting does it get?!

Must keep an eye and ear on Segal.

Enough for now,

  1. Sylvia says:

The four binders Perry delivered in good faith to the AG’s office in 1997 were lost, stolen or pilfered, – or as Segal says, they went “astray.”

Twelve years later, no one knows what became of those damning documents Perry had painstakingly assembled and delivered to the office of the AG.

    Passing strange?

    Indeed.

Lots of excuses on this one. Rather pathetic excuses really.

I’m done….I can’t watch this anymore….want to have some fun – lets count the ums -ers & -ahs. Are those ALL going to be transcribed in the transcripts???

    TYPICAL POLITICIAN HUH???

  3. Sylvia says:

Right. A bureaucrat to the tip of his toes .

I doubt that we’ll see one “um,” “er,” or “ah” in the transcript.

  4. Sylvia says:

So Steven Skurka jumped to Justice Coiln McKinnon’s defence and tried to have Dick Nadeau criminally charged?! After Dick had been found guilty of contempt.

    Too too too too much.

One awfully big happy family they are 🙂

  5. Sylvia says:

4:30 pm Cross exam proceeding. Word is a grand total of one hour – from the entire gathered throng – in the offing.

That’s the best they can do? ONE hour?

    We shall see….

  6. Sylvia says:

Ah yes. We should have known. It’s Perry’s fault the AG’s office “lost” the four binders! Perry should have called ahead!!!

  7. Sylvia says:

And note Segal said the documents which Perry ” appeared” to have turned over.

That’s the second time Segal has couched his language in such fashion to imply the documents were perhaps not delivered at all.

But, there’s a receipt. Good on you Perry!

  8. Sylvia says:

Gtting testy for Segal in there. Kozloff is pressing: Did the AG office make a public announcement that the binders were lost?

Dancing. Sidewise glances to Glaude. Segal’s done that before. Timing of those little side glances interesting. Perhaps means nothing?

  9. Sylvia says:

Now damage control by AG lawyer Leslie MacIntosh. Not much required – this was kid gloves stuff.

I overlooked a note on Frank Horn. What a terrible shame Frank Horn doesn’t go in there with his homework done. He is fearless – one of the rare lawyers who will challenge anyone. Time and again he has the essence but lacks the facts to back up his statements or bakcground knowledge to go further. I dare say if Frank ever got it all together he’d be a force to be recokned with. Such a shame.

4:52: Segal thanking the commission for all its work. “Thank you for having me and thank you for hearing me out. I understand I’m the last witness.”

Yes. The last witness. That was the plan. Swish bang. A little wrinkle with Kozloff, but, nothing to be too terrible alarmed about – just a few lost binders.

Passes on cross-exam all the way around the Weave Shed. Not even a question from Dallas Lee!

    Is it really over? Really?!!!

  10. Sylvia says:

Now they’re filing a raft of documents not entered into evidence. A number now being entered relating to Perry. Callaghan objecting. Glaude says because deal with Perry they are important and should be entered – he will determine the weight given to them.

  11. RealityChecker says:

    6:04 pm – DONE!!!
