No surprise there

26 DAYS TO FREEDOM DAY:  04 October 2008.

Perry Dunlop has finished serving 205 days in jail.  He has served a six month sentence for civil contempt of court!!!  He is now serving an additional 30 day sentence for criminal contempt of court.

This is the institutional response to allegations of childhood sexual abuse.

Hearings have resumed for the day.
Angelo Towndale is undergoing cross-examination.
The schedule for the remainder of the week is as follows:

Father Charles MacDonald – Overview of Documentary Evidence

William Carriere – (Retired) Director of Protection Services, Children’s Aid Society of the United Counties of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry

Geraldine Fitzpatrick – Case Worker, Children’s Aid Society of the United Counties of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry

Ian McLean – Special Assistant to the Executive Director, Children’s Aid Society of the United Counties of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry

Some other news

(1)  Dallas Lee (Victims Group) is sick today.  His cross-examination of Angelo Towndale will be put on hold, as will that of the OPP and CAS who want to cross-examine after Lee.   Mr. Towndale will gave to be re-called.

Hope it’s nothing more than flu bug.  Get well soon Dallas.

(2)  The Diocese will be presenting a motion to excuse Monsignor Donald MacDougald.  No surprise there 🙂

(3)  I didn’t note before but Detective Inspector Randy Millar has been granted limited standing.  It seems the OPP may be alleging misconduct on Millar’s part – Millar has been granted standing to deal with those allegations.

(4)  Jeanine (sp?) Gauthier, the clerk with the inquiry –  the pretty young girl we see passing binders to witnesses on the stand –  had a baby boy.  Congratulations!

Helen Daley (Citizens for Community Renewal) is currently cross-examining Towndale.  Two pieces of interesting info:

(1) Former CAS workers Derry Tenger and Bryan Keough are said to have been very good friends.  Turns out Tenger was in his 50s and Keough in his 20s.  The relationship between the two has, distrubingly and interestingly, been described by Towndale as that of father-son.

(2)  Tenger was an organist at the Anglican church.  I wonder if Tenger perchance knew Sandy Lawrence?   My guess is he did.  If yes, how well?  Sandy Lawrence, recently deceased “alleged” sexual predator, was also an organist. He owned Melody music.

It was Sandy Lawrence who “allegedly” molested Claude MarleauMarleau,  now a lawyer, was introduced to Lawrence by Father Paul Lapierre  (convicted) and Lawrence in turn turned young Claude over to Dr. Peachy who also “allegedly” molested the boy.

Perry is still at Toronto West Detention Centre.  No definitive word on his transfer.  As always, keep Perry and Helen and the family in your prayers.  Helen will have to fly home to the girls in BC.  She will have no peace of mind if this mess isn’t sorted out before her departure.

There is a question as to who is responsible for returning Perry to B.C.  “They” flew him to Ontario.  Presumably “they” should fly him home.  It makes sense doesn’t it?  That is one of many matters Helen is looking into and trying to sort out.

I think I have what I will call “For the Record” as ready as it can be for now – that’s the list of what happened to who as far as charges and convictions related to the Cornwall sex abuse scandal go.  Will post on the Home page and note on New to the Site.

Enough for now
