The rush is on

Perry Dunlop is a political prisoner. He has spent 152 days in jail – for stepping up to the plate to protect children, and then daring to say he has lost faith in the justice system. This is the institutional response to allegations of childhood sexual abuse.

Perry’s birthday is tomorrow, 22 July 2008. Thanks to Justice Normand Gluade et al this good decent and honourable man is marked a common criminal – Perry will spend his 47th birthday behind bars. I still can not believe this is happening in Canada. Perry has already spent more time behind bars than a goodly number of convicted paedophiles!

Belated greeting or just words of support can be sent:

Perry Dunlop c/o OCDC
Ottawa Carleton Detention Centre
2244 Innes Road
Ottawa ON
K1B 4C4

Monetary gifts can be sent to Helen or deposited at a bank. Perry needs money for his canteen supplies. As we all know only too well Perry can’t work, Helen’s on disability and money doesn’t grow on trees.

Perry finally got his meagre possessions!

NOTE: HEARINGS RESUME at 0930 hours (9:30 am) this morning, Monday, 21 July 2008.

I got caught on the start time – quite a surprise to check this morning and see it’s 930 am. Monday is traditionally a 1 pm or 2pm start. Not the case today. The rush is on to shuttle the diocesan witnesses on and off the stand at break-neck speed. I do believe the marching orders have come down from on high: the natives are getting restless – get this thing over with!

This week ‘s roster is as follows:

Monsignor Réjean Lebrun
Monsignor Peter Schonenbach
Mrs. Claudette Pilon-Routhier
Archdeacon Gordon Bryan
Bishop Adolphe Proulx – Overview of Documentary Evidence
Dr. Raymond Legault

Will get this up right now and then carry on posting several scanned documents related to THE LAWSUIT. Monsignor Lebrun was one of the clerical plaintiffs who initiated the action so I’d like to get them posted. I dug them out at the courthouse some days ago – iInteresting that the file was requested by someone with the Attorney General’s office last August – reason for request is listed as “Direction of Master Beaudoin.” What that means I have no idea, but, interesting.

Had hoped to get a page together for Monsignor Lebrun before he hit the stand but not sure I’ll accomplish that now – will do my best. Two interesting pieces of info re Lebrun already posted elsewhere on the site:

(1) In 1993 the Knights of Columbus of Cornwall (Council # 9695 – Chapter Nativity of the BVM Co-Cathedral) sponsored the first chapter of the Columbiettes, its female affiliate, in Canada. The Cornwall Columbiettes soon had four more chapters up and running, all in Sudbury. In 2003 Ontario became a State Council for the Columbiettes with its entire slate of state officers from Cornwall and Sudbury and Father Rejean Lebrun [Diocese of Alexandria-Cornwall] as State Chaplain.

The Knights of Columbus was very much Bishop Eugene Larocque’s ‘baby’.’ It was Larocque who built up the KOC in the Diocese of Alexander-Cornwall. Larocque was heavily involved in the KOC at the diocesan, provincial and national levels.

(2) In 1990 to 1992 Bishop Eugene Larocque served as Vice-President Ontario Conference of Catholic Bishops. His assistant secretary was Msgr. Rejean Lebrun. Lebrun I do believe would have been Larocque’s personal pick and choice.

Judging by the packed week’s roster I’d say we won’t be getting half of what Msgr. knows. He should, for example, know exactly why Fathers Kenneth Martin ( “alleged” paedophile”and Paul Lapierre ( convicted paedohile) packed up and left the diocese for Montreal in the late 60s/early 70s. I’d say there’s a good chance he’d also know why the pair were never excardinated from the Diocese of Alexandria-Cornwall and incardinated into the Archdiocese of Montreal. He may not recall, but I do beleive he’d know. I’d guess he would also have known about Fathers Don Scott’ and Hollis Lapierre’s sexual proclivities. Again, chances are he may not recall, but I do beleive he’d know. Ditto the the Viatiorian priests at the Classical College.

Anyway, keep an eye on New to the Site on the Home page.

Must get to work. I wiled away a few hours over the weekend naively counting on this morning to do what I had to do 🙁

Enough for now,

Sylvia
