Perry has now spent 140 days in jail – for stepping up to the plate to protect children, and then daring to say he has lost faith in the justice system. This is the institutional response to allegations of childhood sexual abuse.

NOTE: Perry’s birthday is 22 July 2008. He will be 47. Pick up a card now. Have Masses said for him. Swamp him with love – lots of cards, letters and notes of best wishes.

Monetary gifts can be sent to Helen or deposited at a bank.  As always they are much needed and would be greatly appreciated.

Perry sounded good yesterday.  He had a good visit in the morning.  Got time in the yard.  Watched the birds feeding the wee ones – he thinks these ones are chickadees.  Couldn’t see hide nor hair of the squirrel.

A hot breakfast!  Scrambled eggs and three little sausages.

Bologna and salad for lunch.

Pressed turkey – perhaps chicken? – for supper with a side of gravy, mashed potatoes and carrots.

He’s hanging in there 🙂

I have oodles of articles/documents I want to post.  Will be picking away over the next few days. Some require some explanation and on occasion will wait until I have number of them posted to make comment. I also have other things to take care of this week so will divvy my time as best I can.  Keep an eye on New to the Site on the Home page.

I just posted “Morgentaler’s appointment polarizes community.”  Note Bishop Paul Andre Durocher’s pitiable statement:  “There are so many Canadians who believe abortion is the same as taking a life.”

What a pathetic utterance from the mouth of a Roman Catholic bishop! Is this the best the bishop can do in upholding the moral teachings of his Church?

Durocher’s comment is akin to Christ saying: ‘There are so many people who believe I am the Son of God.”

Either abortion is “taking a life” or it isn’t. The truth is the truth no matter how many believe it. The Church has always opposed abortion as the killing of innocent life.

Anyway, looks to me like at least one of Durocher’s own flock is one of “so many Canadians” who are of the mind that abortion is the same as taking a life.  I’d say Carson did a better job of opposing the Morgentaler award than Durocher !

Sad isn’t it when lay Catholics have more certitude about moral issues than their own bishops?  Sad isbn;t it to see a bishop tap dance like that?  Not uncommon these days.  Sadly – witness the abysmal handling of clerical sex abuse scandals world wide – and to the great shame of many Roman Catholics, not uncommon.

I have to head out and do some running around now.  Will get back at postings later…

Enough for now,

Sylvia

  1. Myomy says:

Morgentaler changed a good law that would protect the unborn children into a bad law or no law by defying the law. In the process he was in jail for a while despite the fact that the justice system was indulgent with him. Perry Dunlop tried to enforce a good law that would protect children from sexual abuse but was not supported by the justice system. He was attacked by the justice system for doing his job and now he sits in jail with no end in sight. To set it all right free Perry Dunlop and put Morgentaler in jail then take the Order of Canada honor from Morgentaler and give it to Perry Dunlop.
