In the thick of things

Perry has now spent 130 days in jail – for stepping up to the plate to protect children, and then daring to say he has lost faith in the justice system. This is the institutional response to allegations of childhood sexual abuse.

It’s all over until 1300 hours ( 1pm) Wednesday 02 July 2008.  I believe wishful thinking was that Father Denis Vaillancourt’s testimony would be over and done with by day’s end today.  Not so.

Vaillancourt’s examination in chief wrapped up and the gathered throng throng recessed around 12: 40 0m today (Friday 27 June 2008).  He will return for cross-examination next Wednesday.

Well my goodness wasn’t “alleged”paedophile and Church canon lawyer Jacques Leduc just everywhere when it came to the diocese’s dealing with “alleged” clerical paedophiles?!  He was right there in the thick of things.

And doesn’t Father Vaillancourt’s memory ebb and flow?

Anyway, I will go through my notes and give more info later – the volume on the feed disappeared for a spell and I was on the phone for a few moments so I’m a bit hamstrung, but not as much as those who work and rely on the English transcripts at day’s end!  I’ll do what I can.  Will also get a page together for Father Vaillancourt and post what information I have at my fingertips.

I have submitted a request asking the commission that the testimony given in French be translated and posted in English.  I suggest those who do not speak or read French and must rely on transcripts to keep abreast of the hearings  do likewise.  Emails can be sent to:

I will be heading out for the evening shortly – must get myself together and ready to go :).

Enough for now,

Sylvia
