Perry has now spent 76 days in jail – for stepping up to the plate to protect children.

Hearings resume at 0930 hours (9:30 am), this morning, Friday, 02 May 2008.  I believe Stuart MacDonald, retired Staff Inspector with the Cornwall Police Service, started his testimony yesterday and will return today. MacDonald is Helen’s brother-in-law.

A quick note.  Home late last night.

An emotional meeting last evening at the Army and Navy Club in Cornwall.  According to one head count early in the evening 140 were attendance -an excellent turn out on a a weekday evening on very short notice.

It was an emotional evening to say the least.  Helen was Helen – articulate, witty and candid. But it was 16-year-old  Monica (“Bird”) who captured every heart and left scarcely a dry eye. Bird has inherited that amazing combination of Chisholm/Dunlop genes.   Her parents can be proud.  She is an amazing young lady.  Articulate, witty and candid.  Compassionate and caring.  And missing her dad so very very much.

A close knit and amazing family!

I am trying to get some taped excerpts of the evening together to post.  I tried to post one file but it is apparently too large for my site software.  I hunted down an editing program and will see what I can do with that.  It may take time 🙂  The Freeholder has a short video clip on site.

I am now posting a series of pictures.   Will carry on with that and get back to the audio editing learning curve.  I would  very much like to get a few excerpts of the evening up.

Talked to Perry yesterday.  Who would believe that we would ever consider the Ottawa-Carleton Detention Centre as “home” for Perry.  But, we do.  And so does Perry!  He is happy to be “home.”  His next door neighbor at Quinte was James Robert Bateman, a violent paedophile.

Helen will visit Perry today.  She and Monica will head back to Duncan, B.C. on Sunday.

A whirlwind of a trip.  This is life for Helen and the girls and their contact with Perry for the unforeseeable future.

Enough for now,

Sylvia

  1. Hi Sylvia, I’m Helen brother. at least one of them, and live here on the west coast, as far as I can get from Cornwall. I read everything you write, and pray for you daily. I read where you’re getting tired and fedup with the games and spins of the church, police and justice system’- dont let it get you too down, you’re a hero in my eyes and everyone who follows you out here on on the coast.’ Do as much as you can, but don’t let the bastards come close to breaking you. Love you and what you stand for.
    Best regards
