Hearings resumed at 0930 hours (9:30 am) this morning, 22 April 2008. Retired Constable Michael Quinn is back in the stand under cross-examination by Helen Daley (Citizens for Community Renewal).
Hard to believe in listening to all the legal shenanigans in the Weave Shed that there was actually an ILLEGAL pay-off of a victim! That’s what started this whole mess. An ILLEGAL pay-off. “They” like to call it a “settlement.” It was an ILLEGAL pay-off.
And never forget that that illegal pay-off was orchestrated by men who were “allegedly” friends of both the then Chief of police (Claude Shaver) and the Crown attorney (Murray MacDonald).
Small wonder the legal collective is out to defend the vested interests of their respective clients and in so doing going in ever decreasing circles to put word’s in witnesses mouths and dissect and spin Perry’s every move and word!
And how much of yesterday was committed to going on and on and about whose notes are accurate and whether or not a meeting was the 23rd of September or 28th?
Not much chance of the truth getting out is there when no one wants to look at who – besides Perry! – was rubbing shoulders with who ?
For that matter I have yet to hear one soul ask a police witness if they knew or ever saw Colin McKinnon floating around the police station.
Hard to take. For me it’s deja vu. Right back to the Leduc trial. Same tactics. Different players. The same old Cornwall same old. Eyes off the “alleged” paedophile and what he did or did not do and onto Perry.
Thanks to legal spin and lies and half-truths Leduc “walked” on Perry’s back. Charlie took the same well-beaten path. And, ………here we go again.
Perry doesn’t stand a chance! Not a chance. Ditto truth!! The Cornwall Public Inquiry has, like the Leduc “trial,” morphed into the trial and lynching of former Constable Perrt Dunlop.
The transcripts are up. Read Quinn’s testimony of yesterday. More on this later. My gut is Michael Quinn is going to be pilloried. God help anyone who stands for Perry and/or dares to say he thinks Perry Dunlop is a decent guy who did the right thing.
Anyway, some of the day’s media is posted on New to the Site on the Home page.

Perry has not yet been contacted by the Ontario of Court of Appeal advising that a court date for his appeal has been set for 29 April 2008. Were it not for a media report he wouldn’t have a clue. I am told that the 29th is a date when his filing for an appeal “will be spoken to.” That presumably means that the Appeal court will determine if it is the civil or criminal convictions which is being appealed.

I must watch and listen. Helen Daley (Citizens for Community Renewal) is trying to climb into Perry’s head through Michael Quinn.
To be very honest, it all makes me sick .
But, I must watch/listen.
Enough,
Sylvia
I was so anxious to hear the testimony of these police officers, and even more anxious to hear cross-examination. I thought they would actually be able to shed some light on why these allegations were investigated the way they were. But no. It’s all about Perry.
I’m with you, Sylvia. It makes me sick as well.
I fail to understand how it is that ONE man – ONE former police officer – is such the evil evil person that they are making him out to be…and this evil evil person is responsible for all this????
Perry’s right – he’s been called every name under the sun – been alluded to as being some sicko…on and on. We’ve heard it all.
Is this Inquiry about Perry Dunlop or is it about truth anbd reconcilliation??? Is it for the victims? I’m about ready to count how many times Perry Dunlop’s name has come up throughout all these transcripts – is that what this is all about – is this what Cornwall and the taxpayers are wasting their money on – a very public lynching of former Cornwall Police Officer – Perry Dunlop??? Read the transcripts because that most certainly is what it looks like!
This is DISGUSTING!!!
