Lots to do…

No hearings this coming week of 05 November 2007. Hearings resume Tuesday 13 November 2007, probably at 09:30 am or 10:00 am. As soon as that is posted I’ll let you know.

The schedule for the week isn’t up but I know former MPP Garry Guzzo has been on deck for some time. It may well be Mr. Guzzo, but, as always, we’ll have to wait and see …
Three things to pass along:

(1) I posted a translation of Carmen Pregent’s Impact Statement and Recommendations to the commission. She was kind enough to translate for me.
(2) You will see I now have a Google search engine on theinquiry.ca. I am interested in your feedback.

I had maxed my pages (3,000) for the the Pico search engine I had been using before. Renewal is due 05 November 2007 and I discovered that my costs would be doubling. I set out to find something which I felt was more reasonable and would still do the job efficiently. I had hunted off and on for about two weeks – then on Friday and Saturday committed myself completely to the task. Quite by accident I happened on a blog with instructions on how to incorporate Google into a website. No cost!!! πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

The only draw-back for use was said to be the lack of control on how frequently or infrequently Google crawls a site and therefore the possibility that the index for a search is incomplete. Well, because I am frequently adding new postings Google crawls theinquiry.ca quite frequently. I think it will work. I tested it before I made it available and it seems alright to me. I like the way the results show. My only complaint would be that there is no ability to search only the blog or the website.

Anyway, please let me know what you think. If it proves to be inadequate I can always change. Because the site is now so large there truly is a need for a good search engine to retrieve information so if need be I will certainly go back to a paid search engine.

I have the Google engine on most of the major pages now but still need to transfer elsewhere. I will pick away at that over the next few days.

Note there is an option to searching theinquiry.ca or search the world wide web.
(3) No luck yet downloading pdf files. I will have to make another phone call tomorrow. I have a number of files I want to get posted this coming week so really must get the technical gurus at it.
Lots to do this coming week. Keep an eye on New to the Site on the Homepage. I hope to post a number of new of new documents.

Enough for now,

(cornwall@theinquiry.ca)
