A few notes to pass along:
(1) John MacDonald is meeting with a detective from Cornwall police today re obstruction of justice allegations against Cornwall Crown attorney Murray MacDonald and Justices Robert Pelletier and Peter Griffiths.
(2) David Silmser is scheduled to take the stand to start his testimony next week. I have added his name to the list of “Other Victims” on The Victims page. To date I have posted a copy of his hand-written Victim Statement. It is legible, but unfortunately the last line on several pages is cut off. I thought I had a text version of the statement – will continue to look. If and when I find it I will post it.
Meanwhile I will continue to add material to the page.
Note too I am re-working pages as I post new material. Eventually the site will be legible to FireFox users and in the process I am getting things cleaned up a bit.
(3) I mentioned yesterday that hearings are scheduled to resume at 2 pm Monday 29 January 2007. I understand that the day will proceed with Justice Glaude giving us a recap of where we’ve been over the past year and where we’re going in the months ahead 🙂
Dave will perhaps take the stand when Justice Glaude is finished. However there are a number of parties with standing at the inquiry who may have a vested interest in tying up proceedings and/or unsettling Dave by filing motions for this, that or the other thing. For example, I would be amazed if the diocese/Bishop Durocher/Bishop Larocque sits back and twiddles thumbs while David Silmser takes the stand. Ditto Father Charles and his legal team. Perhaps too the Cornwall Police Service? and the Attorney General? and Jacques Leduc? and the Cornwall Police Service? and the Ontario Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services (formerly off of the Solicitor General)? and Jacques Leduc? and the Ontario Provincial Police?
And a good chance there may be some tag team work here 🙂 We shall see!
(4) The ten day period of grace for the diocese/Bishop Durocher to appeal the ruling of Ontario court of Appeal decision re a publication ban should expire today. If no appeal is launched the testimony of Claude Marleau re one of his alleged molesters can be
publicized. I am inclined to think if we hear nothing official before the matter will be addressed on Monday when hearings resume.
(5) No emails via cornwall@theinquiry.ca are reaching me. They are all bouncing back. Not good at all. The gurus are working on it 🙂
Keep trying.
(6) You will be interested to know that the eyes of the world are on Cornwall. theinquiry.ca is being followed by people in Canada, the States and countries such as the Netherlands, Switzerland, Australia, Brazil, United Kingdom, Germany, France, Poland, Norway, Russia, Belgium, Finland, Hungary, Saudi Arabia, the Vatican, Indonesia and Italy.
I am still picking away at the Pelletier memo. It’s getting there 🙂
And that’s enough for now,
Sylvia
