I question the zeal and motive of issuing the press release

According to Cornwall’s AM 1220 the English Catholic School Board is expected to apply for standing today.  And IF indeed that’s the case I do believe it will be awarded hands down and in the blink of an eye as was the case with the Upper Canada District School Board.

Interesting isn’t it that the Viatorian priests who ran and staffed the Classical College have not applied for standing?

Perhaps that’s just around the corner?

Anyway, 2 pm this afternoon – to watch click here then click “Live video webcast” or “Webcast” on upper right .

There is supposed to be victim testimony this week but I will be truly amazed if that comes to pass.  As it now stands there are fourteen opening statements (that’s including Justice Glaude) in the offing.

If the English Catholic School Board applies for standing then there will time consumed with that process today.  And assuming that Justice Glaude grants standing – as he has done for every other group except the Coalition for Action – then the number making opening statements rises to fifteen.  So that boils down to fourteen lawyers and one judge presumably saying what they feel obliged to say in less than two-and-a-half days!  Now, an inquiry day amounts to about 4 ½ hours, so that means there are about eleven inquiry hours available all up this week.  That’s eleven hours to take care of “housekeeping” issues (including the Catholic School Board and whatever Charlie and his legal team have up their sleeve), five witnesses  PLUS fourteen opening statements.

Do you think they can do it?  I don’t.  I think it’s downright impossible.  In fact I seriously question both the zeal and motive of issuing a press release claiming that victims are going to take the stand this week.

Enough for now,

Sylvia
