I will follow up my last blog with two more news items of note, one related to Marie Josee Lapointe, the other to what’s going on outside the Weave Shed in Cornwall.
(1) Marie Josee Lapointe: According to the Toronto Star (07 April 2006) Ms. Lapointe is the daughter of Liberal Senator Jean Lapointe.
Also, according to the Star, Treasury Board president John Baird terminated the contract when he found out about it: “I’ll just say I’m the minister, the buck stops with me and the minister wasn’t very happy when he learned about this” and “I think leadership by example is important … the optics are very bad given the timeline … so I thought it was best to terminate it,”
(Baird was formerly the Progressive Conservative MPP for the Ontario riding of Nepean-Carleton. He served as Minister of Ontario’s Ministry of Communications and Social Services during the regime of former Ontario Premier Michael Harris.)
(2) “Sexual assault baffles doctor”: this article ran in the 07 April 2006 edition of the Cornwall Standard Freeholder. At this point I don’t know the identities of the young man and his alleged victim so don’t see it as directly related to the inquiry, but since it gives an understanding of how disturbing things can get in a community which has been plagued by unresolved allegations of child sexual abuse I decided to post it here on Sylvia’s Site under Pages.
Enough for now,
