The following is the blog of today(21 June 2011) on Father John Corapi’s The Black SheepDog blogsite. It is posted under the name “The Black Sheepdog,” the name Father Coropi has chosen to use since announcing that he is leaving the priesthood. I have posted a number of the comments but software became finicky and I am therefore able to post only a limited few of the 200+. All comments can be read here: http://theblacksheepdog.wordpress.com/2011/06/21/

Many have asked, or criticized, me concerning the reason I filed a civil defamation suit against the accuser in this case. It is because the two men I respect most in the Catholic Church advised me to do so. Fr. James Flanagan, Founder and most respected member of the Society of Our Lady of the Most Holy Trinity, and Bishop Rene Gracida, the former Bishop of Corpus Christi, had a meeting on this matter. The result was that they advised me strongly to file a civil defamation suit. Why would they do this? Because they felt it was the only way I could receive a fair and just hearing. This advice was conveyed to me through Fr. Tony Anderson of the Society of Our Lady.
Concerning money, most people know me through radio and television. My broadcasts for 17 years on both radio and television were absolutely free to the public. I was never paid for them by EWTN or any radio station, nor did EWTN or any radio station ever charge anyone to view them. The past several years I never charged a fee to speak at events either. Furthermore, I have given hundreds of thousands of dollars to various Catholic organizations, and directed millions more from benefactors that wanted to give it to me. I did not accept charitable contributions, although I could have received millions.
The Bishop’s star witness against me is a severely troubled person that I tried to help for years. I provided the Church with evidence as to this accuser’s credibility very early on. There are two hours of audio telephone messages that clearly demonstrate this person’s serious lack of credibility. We shall consider posting some of these audio clips in the future. You can decide if this person sounds sober and/or sane.

Father, please don’t post these. WE don’t need to know, and it will only cause further scandal. Leave it in the courtroom. Please, don’t do this. You’re just making the situation worse.

Dearest John*
It is with great sadness and concern tha t I put this heavy feeling I have in my heart onto this blog. I have been one of your very loyal sheep for a very long time. Although only 36 years of age I have followed your teachings for as long as I can remember. I think the first thing that drew me in was the power behind that voice of yours.. But then it wasn’t the voice but the message that you sent that carried the power. It was as If the Holy spirit was immenating through every cell in your body.
You were always a light in the darkness for me. I have a hard time seeing you as a blacksheep as a matter of fact I refuse that title for you…. You are light….. For some reason the path has become murky and distorted…Jesus is cleaning out his church and the purification is happening…. But you are not one of the things that needs to be taken away from your CATHOLIC brothers and Sisters. Fight the GOOD fight!!! Stand with the church YOUR church the CATHOLIC CHURCH…… We need you!!!!! I need you. I don’t need another person to walk away and give up when the going gets too tough…. I keep hearing Jesus voice saying remember if they hate you, they hated me first. Jesus took up his cross for LOVE of you. Don’t lay down your cross for him honor him by lifting it high and carrying it with honor and light not darkness. I feel I don’t know wher you have gone but oyur true flock waits on your return. I love you and pray for you alwaysA a mom wife and mother that deseratly needs your guidance peace ansd God bless call on padre Pio for enlightenmentReply -

Please read the many comments to your blog where we are ‘begging’ you to take up your cross! It does no good to post video or audio of your accuser. Just let the process take run its course. Remember Padre Pio. Remember the vows you took. Remember WWJD and how much this who mess is hurting the Blessed Mother and causing division!

You’re going to post audio clips of secretly recorded telephone calls on the internet in order to make your accuser look bad? Do you really think that’s a great idea?

Litany of HUMILITY:
Written by Cardinal Merry del Val. He was accustomed to recite this prayer daily after the celebration of Holy Mass.
O Jesus meek and humble of heart, Hear me.
From the desire of being esteemed,
From the desire of being loved,
From the desire of being extolled,
From the desire of being honored,
From the desire of being praised,
From the desire of being preferred to others,
From the desire of being consulted,
From the desire of being approved,
Deliver me, Jesus. From the fear of being humiliated,
From the fear of being despised,
From the fear of suffering rebukes,
From the fear of being calumniated,
From the fear of being forgotten,
From the fear of being ridiculed,
From the fear of being wronged,
From the fear of being suspected,
Deliver me, Jesus. That others may be loved more than I,
That others may be esteemed more than I,
That in the opinion of the world, others may increase, and I may decrease,
That others may be chosen and I set aside,
That others may be praised and I unnoticed,
That others may be preferred to me in everything,
That others may become holier than I, provided that I become as holy as I should,
Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it. Amen. -

It’s clear to me that we, the sheep, do not know enough of the story to criticize, judge, vent anger toward, or become disappointed with your decision to move in a new direction. The best thing you can do is to keep the updates (like the one above) flowing.
I, for one, do not criticize you for your response to this situation. I am only concerned, better yet – curious, about the message you will bring to your faithful followers in the future. As long as you still speak with the authority of the Church and the Magisterium, and that I am hearing an authentic and genuine Catholic message and doctrine, than I am still with you 100%.
Blessings to you, John.

Well said, Steven. Like Father Corapi, who has had several death threats against him. Many notable bishops and cardinals IN THIS COUNTRY have likewise been threatened. They have entourages of security that follow them everywhere. And, that’s just one aspect of Father’s life that many do not know. Can you imagine having to concern yourself with your own security at your home and wherever you go? Yet the detractors and the naive, sitting in the relative safety and comfort of their own homes, “preach” as if he has nothing to worry about. The dangers to priests, especially high profile and powerful ones, are REAL, spiritually and earthly. Father has taken on this battle of heroic proportions almost single-handedly (with Our Lady, of course!) and we have no idea what he’s going through. Any condemnations that come are certainly misinformed. I’m certain his devotion to Our Lady is strong and she is protecting him.
God’s blessings to all

Father, I don’t think it wise. It could be viewed as an attack, whether it’s justified or not. Everything will come out. If this person is as unstable as you say she is (and I’ve not reason to think otherwise), why not let more than a few months pass and let the matter be cleared up. You’re not the only priest to go through this. Why not put everything on hold until the canonical investigation is cleared up? Then file the suit.
We want you back, but as Father Corapi….not this mysterious “black sheep dog” fellow.

Father, please listen: “Remember this: The Lord has sworn and He will not change His mind, “You are a priest FOREVER after the order of Melchizedeck”! (Ps. 110:4). This, your priesthood, “cannot” be denied!! God needs you! The world needs you! Do you hear me, oh priest of God! It is time, says the Lord that you, “Take up your Cross and follow in My footsteps!! Let not your heart be troubles; Be Not Afraid! The “voice” you are listening too comes “not” from ME but the voice of Satan; rejoicing as he may, “he will not be allowed to take My Most Gifted Priest” for these last “dark days” in Church founded by Me and the people I love! Please, please dear Son of Mine come back before it is too late!”

I agree with Steven. Just teach the faith, Brother John.
Regarding accusations, keep that in private, and let us know how it goes. I don’t want the details, any more than you wanted too much detail in the confessional. We don’t need that, just the what.
I’m on your side regarding your future of teaching the faith, but let’s not let this go the route of tabloid journalism. We believe you. You don’t need to prove it to me, or most of us.
God bless.

I agree with Jennifer Z. Please do not post these audios. She does not need to be judged by us – that is leading is to sin. Her behavior is between her and Jesus. Yes, her behavior has also negatively affected you. We understand that. But two wrongs do not make a right. Please accept this cross, submit and utter not. Remember that our Lord was falsely accused and submitted to a flawed authority, silently and humbly. So many of us believe in your innocence and believe that the system is flawed. However, please imitate the Savior you serve. You, your accuser, and all those involved have my prayers. We pray for God’s will and His Glory to triumph.

I’m so sorry you are going thru all this and my husband and I will be praying for you. I’m very saddened to learn of Corpus Christi being involved in your problems. I have to admit if the SOLT order comes into question and you as well…I don’t feel very comfortable living on Padre Island during this upcoming Hurricane season. But, Father, the reports are that the lawsuit you filed was not an anti-defamation suit, but a suit alleging violation of a non-disclosure contract. Also your superior in SOLT, Father Sheehan, told the National Catholic Register that your lawsuit against your accuser has compromised the investigation and has intimidated other witnesses, former employees who were willing to come forth. They are afraid to cooperate with the authorities because of the threat of litigation.
Were you aware that this suit would compromise the investigation of the complaints against you? You have complained that the investigation (which has only lasted three months so far) is in limbo, and you implied it would never be completed – but the delay has been caused by your own actions, it would seem.

In objective fairness, where is and was the same concern for this priest who wasn’t afraid to cooperate with the process, even if it was begrudgingly, but who got no cooperation himself – like knowing for certain the name of the accuser (if he hadn’t already suspected) nor given the privacy himself since the suspension went into action immediately and was publicly announced? Why was his “order” forced to begin this long drawn out process by the local bishop with a pressure to write to other bishops without jurisdiction? If he gave help to both the accuser and her husband over the years (possibly including a very special gift of that rosary that was offered to be sold instead for big bucks) and the response was extortion for money, perhaps there is no other way to get them both to stop and change their way of living before their own addictions kill them or they cause more trouble for others. Perhaps he’s tired of all of the misinformative gossip by the blogging powers. If innocent priests continue to get dissed by their superiors and bishops they are forced to defend themselves for the sake of the future priesthood. If men considering the priesthood witness only priests, from the first accusation, getting convicted and tossed aside “like garbage” this can only influence them not to try it out. If you are orthodox and preach it loud and clear you will be placed on the suspect list or the “show off” list. Why do you think you never hear the same ever in your weekly homilies?

I wholeheartedly agree with Colleen and Steven. And trust me, the accuser is likely out there in full force on all the message forums spewing her vitriol and venom. There is one woman specifically who has posted the most hateful, vulgar commentary on several of the pages (including this one) that are in support of you – both on Facebook and various blogs. I would not be surprised if this woman is the accuser – she sounds like a woman whose advances were rejected, and very much like a psychopath who is hellbent on destroying you. You have been warning us of the times in which we are living and the spiritual battle of unimaginable proportions for the past 20 years, as have Our Lord and Our Lady in their messages around the world. There are many who are looking at the ‘bigger picture’ that is going on ~ keep the faith!! God bless you, and we are all in this together !!

Dear Father — your preaching and teaching helped return me to spiritual sanity, and to abandon my anglican priesthood and return to the Catholic Church. Please, for the Love of God, do not post the recordings of your accuser. In my heart and soul I am sure that this will hurt you, and will hurt her as well; which is not your intention.
I beg and pray that you reconsider your resignation, and your request for separation from the SOLT. Please Father, please do not go this route. You are in my daily, even hourly prayers. Please return to the ecclesial process, and do so united to the suffering Christ and his sorrowful Mother. Let them be your strength. We will accompany you in prayer. I am so hoping you actually read this, and consider the heart from which it comes.

I think you are making a fool of yourself personally. Your actions are just not remotely impressive or indicative of much good. You are making yourself look guilty not like an honorable man with nothing to hide.
And it doesn’t make you appear that much more stable than the woman you accuse. Even if this woman is an alcoholic it doesn’t mean her accusations are false. She says you’re a drug addict. You say she’s an alcoholic. Blah. Blah. Blah. Way to take the high road. How much more important for you to fight an alcoholic than to honorably continue as a priest. To whom much is given much is required!Reply -
Wow…that’s sad and pathetic that you would even consider posting her calls/audio recordings of her here… why don’t you post some of yours from when you were an alcoholic/addict?

Father,
You are obviously very wounded, and that is understandable if you have been falsely accused. However, lashing out publicly at Church officials and your accuser is not helping your cause. Christ said to love our enemies. Your course of action is far from Christ-like. Why can”t you publicly proclaim your innocence and set an example of love and charity for those who love you to follow by showing no malice and asking people to pray for your accuser, who seems to be a broken person by your statements? If your accuser is as non-credible as you have stated, their false accusations will not stand. TRUST IN GOD FATHER CORAPI AND DEMONSTRATE HUMILITY. You are trying to do this your own way, and you know well that we can do nothing without God. Remember, our goal is to get to heaven, not to create a cult of personality and fame for ourselves. If you lose your earthly fame over false accusations but still have God, isn’t that enough? Look to the examples set by the great saints.
I am praying for you Father that you will abandon this road you have taken and return with humility to Holy Mother Church and submit to her God-given authority.

Our Lord was spoken against, taunted, scouraged, crucified. If we are to be true followers of Him, can we not expect any less for ourselves?
God has chosen you, FATHER Corapi, to take up His Cross at this time. We do not know His Intentions, but we are to trust Him explicitly.
God is using you for a greater purpose than we can ever imagine. By you taking up His Cross, you will demonstrate to the world what a true Catholic is – your actions will speak much louder than any of your words ever have. Trust me.
I know from personal experience how the devil works to discredit those that are close to God. Guess you got too close for comfort for the devil?
This is just another step on the path God has chosen for you – I trust you are more than up for the voyage.
Thank you, and God Bless!

Let us all pray for the intercession of Bl. JPII for Fr. Corapi and his ministry which has been under attack.
Father, we all have crosses. I too have a terrible cross. I can escape my cross by leaving the Catholic Church and becoming a Protestant. I will not do that. Please return to your community.
Your ministry is not finished. You are not able to verbally teach, but you continue to teach with your actions. Just be sure the actions are teaching what your words have been teaching for the last seventeen years.
Please consider all of our words. We have learned so much from you, and today we speak up out of love for you. This is the cross you have been given. Please bear it well.

I am praying for this too and I ask everyone here to join me. You are a beloved priest of Christ and I have faith that you will keep your heart and soul open to God and not allow the evil of this world use you against us and the Church. You know better than anyone the spiritual warfare that is being waged, especially in this situation! I am asking your guardian angel, begging actually, that he will aid you in all of your actions. Your actions can be particularly damaging given the great deal of respect and love we have for you and your ministry. Please take care and stay centered on Christ!

Oh, come on people! What in the world makes you think this man doesn’t know what he is doing? It is about time that a priest that was thrown under the bus, got out from under it and used his civil rights to set things straight. I am sick and tired of watching bishops beat down a priest that they have personal issues with, just because they can, or at least think they can. Expose those that have crapped on Father John. I am tired of them hiding behind the cloth!
I have prayed so hard for this dear priest. And few of my prayers are not answered. And I now believe that my prayers for him have been answered. If this is not what he is supposed to be doing, God will stop him.
Just pray for him! He didn’t ask for your advice nor my advice. Ask God to help him get through this misery. He will be ok and when he comes out on the other side, we will have him back. Did you ever think
that maybe God is using Father Corapi to pull the reigns in on wild bishops?
And why do you want father to set meekly by while people kick the crap out him. Do you stand still while
you are attacked?
Go Father Corapi!!!!! GO! GO! GO! I will keep praying and praying and praying for you.Reply-
Amen ML!!! I fully agree with you – the evil that has infiltrated the Church with the intent to destroy Her from within can no longer be allowed to exist! There are man, many, MANY ‘wolves in sheep’s clothing’ that Our Lord warned about repeatedly in His Word! And His and Our Lady’s messages (which have only increased as this spiritual battle of unimaginable proportions heats up) have confirmed this! It is high time we see the liberalism that is now the enemy from within! If you look into the USCCB’s connections on Facebook, or research it online, you will find many groups with which they should NOT even be associated with – EVER! These include those pushing for ordained women ‘priests’, gay ‘marriage’ and homosexuality as ‘acceptable’ and even welcomed; pro-contraception, pro-illegal immigration and YES, even PRO-ABORTION!! There are those within the Church in America who would love to shut Fr. Corapi up because he has called their bluff and exposed them through his teaching over the past two decades! The infiltration of the communist agenda within the Church has been planned and been going on for the past century. And this is the result – a bunch of sheeple who will blindly follow the Church assuming that ALL within Her are good! Wake up Catholics! Wake up America! it is time to clean house of these wolves in sheep’s clothing!

Fr. John. You don’t know me but your teaching has changed my life for the better. I can not know the cross you bear. Please remember St. John Bosco. Please rememer your inspiration from blessed JPII. As you instructed us, pray the rosary. Be a beacon of light in the darkness. You are not alone. Be not afraid.
If you leave now, you will hurt your legacy. If the truth does not set you free, the rest of us are doomed. All of us must embrace the crosses of our lives. We can run, but in the end we can not hide. The powers that be will use your decision against you, will thay not? Does God not promise to raise up the just to throwns of glory?

Father Corapi is being taunted by Satan. Release the audio clips and Satan wins. God may even be testing Father John. Obedience to the church is the cornerstone of faith. Even if we think the hierarchy of the church has shown poor judgement, as God’s children we must be obedient to the Church. Mans ways are not Gods ways. Do the right thing by God and truth and justice will always win in the end. God bless you Father John, do not buckle under the pressure. Satan can’t do obedience.

Is it your desire is to have your priestly faculties restored provided the civil and canonical cases go in your favor?
Some suggest you have already jeopardized that potential option. I’m not so sure. If you have not, be careful not to do so.
Have you really forgiven the one you say is the perpetrator against you? What good would it do for me to hear an audio? Shouldn’t that be primarily for the courts to hear?
Understand that this is difficult for many of us but given your notoriety, it is important.
Everything you say and everything you do, can and does have historic and permanent consequence.
Remember, you may be assertive when just. Also remember, charity in all things.

Father Corapi,
Please do not post the audio recordings. I agree with the many others who fear it will only end up hurting you further. You do not need to prove your innocence by casting aspersions upon her character. Truth will come out. I will pray for you. Your preaching ministry has meant so much to so many people, including my own family, who recently converted to Catholicism. Your EWTN programs were our absolute favorite program. Your willingness to speak the truth, and the clarity of your preaching style, were so inspiring. Much of our Christian formation has been due to your preaching ministry. Thank you. I thank the Lord for you. I will pray to the Lord and his Blessed Mother for you. And please do not post the audio recordings.

No Father, do not post any phone conversation clips; do not put yourself on that level. This whole public thing does not suit you. Where is prayer in all this? Where is humility? Where is the value of suffering? I am not saying take it sitting down with a smile. I am saying be submissive to the church. If the bishops are wrong, it certainly would not be the first time. There is a purpose here; God’s way is not our way, and greater good will come from all this. As one of those whoe soul you read in the confessional and saved me from my sorry self, I beg you to retreat into prayer.
Love, Murph
p.s. Do you feel like your guardian angel went out for a smoke?

Priest’s are human beings who deserve the right to defend themselves against any accuser. They should have the right to know their name and the specific allegations. I believe the Church’s policies should be reviewed and changed. Some say it’s a shame that you didn’t just follow the Church’s procedures, etc., but I said maybe it would take a warrior priest, to bring to light the failed policies and procedures for dealing with these situations. I’m sorry that the Church has to lose a great priest for this to happen, but I understand your viewpoint. I am praying for truth, justice, and for your new ministry. God bless you,

I am fully aware that you know and understand these verses better than I do, but I thought a reminder, in the spirit of my support for you, was not a bad thing.
My prayers and best wishes are with you!“Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven….”
-and-
“Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents and harmless as doves. But beware of men, for they will deliver you up to councils and scourge you in their synagoguesReply -
I remember your video/teaching “No Cross, No Love”. Father, take yours please, don’t quit your priesthood. I pray you do so.
On the other hand, I think its better you don’t mess it up with audios here, and as a reader said, “Leave it in the courtroom”. I am afraid you are making a big Reality Show, where love to others (enemies included) will have no place.
I think you deserve a good rest and a good pray, take a good time for both.
If it’s not you who is the important, if it’s Christ, how would you quit priesthood? I pray you don’t quit and you be a priest, following the path of the Cross no matter how long it is. Your teachings really helped lots of people (me, among them). Dont loss now sight of reality. Yours,

Fr. Corapi, you have my full support with the civil lawsuit. Our good priests need to be able to stand up for their rights too. My prayers are always with you. Keep the faith!

Father,
Thanks for your past contributions, watching you on EWTN was very helpful to me at a crucial period in my life, along with the radio broadcasts.
.
Also, thanks for the financial breakdown, was curious about those things. You will continue to be in my prayers to proceed as Christ wishes you to. Your taking a firm stand for justice in your case may be encouragement for other priests that are accused.
Prayers,

St. Gerard Majella was accused and the accuser came forward after a long period of time. May St. Gerard Majella assist you in your spiritual battle Fr. Corapi. We will be praying for you.

Love you Father Corapi! And I LOVE the Black SheepDog idea…Like you always said, God allows evil to happen for a greater good to come out of it. This is the greater good, and you are going to have so many more followers. You’re always in my prayers. And I trust you to do the right thing, you know better than any of these people what to do. Don’t listen to anyone else but your other close friends! You’re a smart man and I admire you so much!
Please don’t post the recordings you have. As above, we don’t need to hear them. This could be very detrimental to your case. Please check with your lawyers about this. Many, many, many, of us are praying for you and with you. We don’t need all the ugly details. You don’t need to answer or convince those who are questioning. Stay the course, be with God, pray for his guidance. We are behind you. Love you. God be with you.
