WILMINGTON — A Roman Catholic priest was sentenced to three years in prison today for stealing money from St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception and St. Patrick churches, where he was pastor.

The Rev. Cornelius Breslin, who has been suspended from his priestly duties, pleaded guilty to one count of theft over $100,000 in July. He had been charged with stealing $350,000.

Breslin, 60, was also ordered today to pay restitution.

He was caught by a church audit.

Breslin had faced up to 15 years in prison.

    I am from INDIA_I praise people like you for fearlessly exposing the wrong-doings of the Catholic Church, be it pedophile priests or stealing or doing other wicked things_The faithful work hard at their jobs and when the money they faithfully put into the Catholic Church is taken by such petty theifs with a ‘ hypocritical frock’ they should receive the harshest of punishments_

    Boooooo to ex-Benedict, the man who kept his eyes closed and then JUST RAN AWAY by resigning_ shame on him_
