A 28-year-old Catholic priest, Reverend Father Sebastian Dery has committed suicide in a mission house in Navrongo in the Upper East region.

He was the Father of the Navrongo-Bolgatanga Diocese of the Catholic Church.

The late father Dery left a suicide note asking one Emmanuel and his parents for forgiveness.

The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Upper East Regional Police Command, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Mr. Thomas Agbanyo, who confirmed the incident said two priests from the parish had gone to report the matter to the police.

In August last year, a 31-year-old Catholic Priest, Reverend Father Kevin Abakisi committed suicide by hanging in Tamale. Police in Navrongo are investigating the latest case.

    Two priests from the parish reported him to police. Good for them!

    In a suicide note Father Sebastian Dery asked for forgiveness. That will hopefully bring some small measure of comfort to the boy.

    May God have mercy on his soul.
