A priest is on the run following the rape of a teenager, Eastern Cape police said on Saturday.
Police spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Mzukisi Fatyela said the priest allegedly raped a 16-year-old girl during a church service at the Cwecweni Secondary school in Ncgobo in February.
Police had been searching for the man since.
On Saturday the man went to the girl’s relatives in Tsolo Village near Mthatha and allegedlytried to offer them a bribe in exchange for dropping the rape charges.
Police were informed and the man fled. –
