Statement by Ukrainian Catholic Church Camps of Saskatchewan Inc. (UCCCS)

Nathan Labatt – Camp Counsellor Charged by RCMP
The Board of Directors of UCCCS regrets to inform you that Nathan Labatt, a former counsellor at St. Michael’s Camp, has been charged by the RCMP with misconduct that may have affected campers at St. Michael’s. The Board has been fully co-operating with the RCMP in their investigation.
Nathan Labatt was a camp counsellor at St. Michael’s camp in 2010 and 2011. All applicants for employment at the camp are carefully screened. Nathan provided the Board with a clear criminal record check and appeared to be duly qualified for the position since he had experience working with youth as a Youth Volunteer with the Archdiocese of Regina.
UCCCS is greatly concerned about the impact that Nathan may have had on the youth who were directly or indirectly affected by his actions. UCCCS is therefore in the process of taking steps to ensure that support services are available to youth who may require assistance.
