The Roman Catholic Diocese of Saskatoon is calling on individuals who were abused by a priest and former teacher to come forward.

William Hodgson Marshall pleaded guilty in Windsor, Ont., last month to 17 sex assault charges for crimes committed against children in Toronto, Windsor, and Sudbury dating back to the 1950s.

Marshall, 88, also taught at Saskatoon’s St. Paul’s High School from 1958 to 1961.

The known victims include six from Windsor, six from Sudbury and one from Cambridge. Another four assaults took place in Toronto. The Ontario assaults occurred over more than three decades, starting in 1952. They were perpetrated on 16 boys and one woman, and relate to fondling, fellatio, and masturbation.

But it’s alleged Marshall abused students while teaching at St. Paul’s as well. “The diocese of Saskatoon has recently learned that some former students of Fr. Marshall’s have disclosed that they were sexually assaulted or interfered with by Marshall while attending St. Paul’s High School,” the diocese said in a weekend statement.

The statement calls on anyone abused by Marshall to contact the diocese.

St. Paul’s High School closed in the 1960s. No charges have been laid in Saskatchewan.
